Though most of these titles skew towards the fighting genre, considering there have been new games released since the early 1990s, they actually span across a multitude of different genres, providing plenty of variety and a fresh experience each and every time.

All JoJo Parts, Ranked From Worst to Best

Though each brings something new and unique to the table, there can be no denying that some JoJo parts are better than others.

Not all of these games have been seen as accessible though, and in fact, there’s a select few which are often regarded as being unforgiving in their overall challenge. This is especially true with these games below, which are far from easy to complete, but with enough stored-up Hamon and a reliable Stand, players might just be able to make it through these difficult Jojo games in one piece.

Diavolo aiming at Jotaro with his Stand in the middle of a town

  • Release Date: December 2019
  • Developer: Historia
  • Platform: Arcade

After the unparalleled success of Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, it seemed as though every franchise was going to have its own battle royale adaptation, and Jojo certainly wasn’t exempt from this trend. Last Survivor drops up to 20 players into an expansive map where they are tasked with finding essential resources and taking down enemies in order to gain Soul Chips, which can be used to upgrade their character.

There are also three types of cards which will grant the player specific buffs depending on their color. Needless to say, there can be a lot to keep track of when jumping into a match of Last Survivor, and though battle royale fans will probably have an easier time with the game, it might take a little getting used to for newcomers to the genre.

5 Jojo’s Venture

Game FAQ Difficulty Rating: 3.6

Dio and Jotaro fighting in front of a large clocktower

  • Release Date: December 1998
  • Developer: Capcom
  • Platforms: PlayStation, Dreamcast, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Jojo’s Venture is one of the very first pieces of Jojo’s media ever to be released in the West, and as a result, it’s often credited for introducing many fans to the series back when it was available in arcades. The game itself is a pretty traditional one-on-one fighting game which includes plenty of unique special moves, which players can throw out to whittle down their opponents’ vitality gauge.

These vampires in the Jojo Bizarre Adventure series stand out as the strongest of their kind.

What really helps the game stand out from its peers, while also raising the overall difficulty, is the Stand Mode. When this is switched on, each fighter becomes faster and more powerful, but some will receive more benefits than others, making the characters feel quite uneven. This thrilling arcade title is still an absolute blast to play, but the unbalanced gameplay does still provide a tough challenge to keep players on their toes.

4 Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes Of Heaven

Game FAQ Difficulty Rating: 3.21

0_0000_JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Eyes Of Heaven

  • Release Date: June 2016
  • Developer: CyberConnect2
  • Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4

Despite also technically being a fighting game, Eyes of Heaven is a 3D action brawler which can either be played with 2 or 4 fighters taking part in a match. Something that adds a lot of variety to the character roster are the Battle Styles, which grant specific combatants buffs depending on how strong they are within the actual story.

For example, Dio is able to recover health over time since he’s a vampire, but in keeping with Phantom Blood’s lore, he will not be able to heal wounds which have been dealt by Ripple-enhanced attacks. This means players will actually need to have at least some basic knowledge of the eries and character lore to deal with enemies effectively. The fast-paced nature of the gameplay can also take a bit of getting used to, which further contributes to the challenge that this game presents.

Game FAQ Difficulty Rating: 3.41

Johnathan Joestar From the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood Game

  • Release Date: October 2006
  • Developer: Anchor Inc
  • Platform: PlayStation 2

Released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the series, Phantom Blood chronicles the entire first part of the story, which focuses on the intense and often heated relationship between Jonathan and Dio. In stark contrast to every other Jojo’s game, Phantom Blood is a beat em’ up where players will usually be forced to take on large hordes of enemies at once.

Every JoJo Setting, Ranked From Best To Worst

Each part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is based in a different location. But, which among these is the best one?

The Ripple techniques Jonathan will eventually learn will come in handy for crowd-control purposes, but because the stamina bar is so small, it means relying too heavily on these abilities isn’t always a smart idea. The game also features quite a unique Overdrive mechanic which will gradually fill up the more damage the player deals, but on the flipside, it will also drain when they take a hit. Therefore, players will need to get into the habit of dodging and blocking as much as possible if they want to deal with some of the more durable enemies that begin appearing throughout the story.

2 GioGio’s Bizarre Adventure

Game FAQ Difficulty Rating: 3.58

Giorno attacking Bruno with his stand

  • Release Date: July 2002
  • Developer: Capcom
  • Platform: PlayStation 2

Before Golden Wind got a stunning anime adaptation in 2019, this beloved chapter of the Jojo storyline was brought to life with a unique manga visual art style in the 2002 PlayStation 2 game GioGio’s Bizarre Adventure. Though the game does involve some combat, it mostly centers around its boss battles, which make up the bulk of the story; boss fights which only get more difficult and gimmick-heavy the further players progress.

Even though it can’t exactly be called a fighting game, chaining combos together and racking up damage still takes a lot of practice, especially since it’s so easy for enemies to interrupt the player if they make a simple mistake. Stands also aren’t quite as reliable in this game, since their total energy will be drained if Giorno gets hit by an enemy, forcing players to be more strategic in their plan of attack.

1 Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R

Game FAQ Difficulty Rating: 3.64

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - All-Star Battle R - Combat

  • Release Date: September 2022
  • Developer: CyberConnect2
  • Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC

Often touted as one of, if not the best Jojo game released to date, All Star Battle R is a complex and in-depth 2.5D fighting game which includes plenty of mechanics that are brutally difficult to learn, let alone master. Easy Beat, Stylish Evade, and Rush Mode are just a few examples of abilities players will need to use in order to out-play their opponents, but this isn’t even mentioning the combos, which can be very unforgiving due to how hard it is to juggle opponents.

Luckily, there’s a support system where an additional character can jump in to extend a combo, but pulling this off successfully is far from easy because of how tight the timing-window is. Recent popular fighting games have made a stronger attempt to make the experience as accessible as possible for newcomers, but All Star Battle R truly holds nothing back and essentially requires players to master the game on their own. It does need to be said that it’s immensely satisfying to finally overcome this steep learning curve, so it’s well worth putting in the time to learn a few characters before taking them online to face off against other players.
