In the vast universe of anime, the isekai genre is popularly known for its ability to capture the imagination of viewers with its compelling tales of ordinary individuals who are unexpectedly thrust into extraordinary worlds. Isekai anime often explores themes of adventure, power, and transformation as these characters navigate their new realities.

Isekai protagonists are known to wield immense powers, except in some cases where the protagonist does not and is considered weak. Protagonists with immense powers undergo personal transformations and can make profound and destructive changes to themselves, the worlds they now inhabit, or, in some cases, both.

7 The Saga Of Tanya The Evil

Tanya Degurechaff

Tanya lives up to the title of this anime, as she is not only evil but she possesses destructive abilities. Living in a war-torn, alternate version of Europe during the early 20th century where magic exists, Tanya is the commander of the imperial army’s 203rd Air Mage Battalion and will do absolutely anything to take down her enemies.

She is known for her exceptional military prowess and powerful magical abilities, as she is one of the strongest mages in this world. Her tactics often result in massive destruction, making her one of the world’s most feared and effective military leaders. Tanya’s actions cause significant enemy casualties and infrastructure damage, as well as strain on her own forces. Tanya’s battles are usually in the sky, away from buildings and humans, but she uses so much power and strength that she causes an explosion and a blast of wind, which causes further damage, as seen during her fight with Mary in Saga of Tanya the Evil: The Movie. Not only that, her opponents suffer gruesome and brutal deaths as she blasts them with immense firepower, ensuring great harm and death in most cases. Right from the first episode, fans see the type of leader Tanya is. Because she is aware of her strength and abilities, she is quick to leave her comrades to go head-on with their opponents, unleashing explosive fire with an evil smile on her face. In another episode, she sends two of her soldiers to the rear end of the battle for disobeying her commands. This seemingly innocent option was in fact a deadly one, as she sent them to their graveyard, and by the end of the following day, she received news about their death (news that she knew would come).

6 Arifureta: From Commonplace To The World’s Strongest

Hajime Nagumo

Hajime Nagumo in Arifureta

Hajime was a young boy with a kind heart and a timid personality. He finds himself transported to another world alongside his classmates, who only bullied him more in the new world and left him to die because he was not as strong as them. Being betrayed, alone, and left to die in an unknown world ignited something in Hajime, and his desire to survive caused him to drastically change, and this put him on a path of destruction. In the abyss, Hajime discovers that eating monsters causes him to gain their powers, making him strong. He uses this newfound strength plus his mutation ability to create modern, high-caliber firearms and explosive weapons, thereby adopting a combat style that heavily relies on overwhelming firepower and brute strength.

In Season 2, Episode 11, fans see Hajime in his brutal glory after he realizes that Kaori’s heart is not beating. His opponents did not know the danger that was looming as Hajime’s hostility greatly increased. Hajime sent Hayama flying with one punch, causing a great hole to form in the wall that he flew into. That single move almost cost Hayama his life. Hajime has weapons implanted in his arms, and this allows him to shoot opponents from different angles, particularly from behind him, and he uses it when Hayama tries to sneakily attack him from the back. Because of what he has been through, Hajime is quick to attack anyone that he considers an enemy, regardless of whether they were once friends or not. He is quick to shoot and kill Melt with his handgun when he discovers he has become one of Eri’s undead puppets. Other destructive things Hajime did in this episode were pull out a machine gun, unleash great fire on the comrades, and use his feet to crush Hayama’s skull to the ground. There are more destructive things he did in this anime, and this is only a glimpse of them.

5 Overlord

Ainz Ooal Gown

Ainz from Overlord

Satoru’s favorite online video game was shutting down, and because of how attached he was to the game, he decided to spend the game’s last moments looking around the environment, exploring the guild, and saying goodbye to his online friends. He soon realizes that he is unable to log out and has been somehow transported to the game’s world. Satoru is quick to rename himself as Ainz Ooal Goaz and start his new life in this world.

Ainz is insanely powerful and does not believe in killing people in a sympathetic way, as he would much rather that they suffer a brutal death. Ainz is considered the villain of this anime because of his selfish, cold, and brutal nature. For someone who was once a human, he has no regard for most of them. In addition, he pays allegiance to his people, the people of Nazarick. Anybody outside of Nazarick is not his concern, and he would disrupt their peace for his selfish needs, which are to turn them into undead warriors. This can specifically be seen in his battle against 100,000 men; he did not feel bad for killing them because he was going to use their deaths for his benefit.

4 My One-Hit Kill Sister

Maya Ikusaba

Maya Ikusaba

Maya’s love for her brother is a bit out of control and has left the familial love bound. Maya and her younger brother, Asahi, lived in Japan before an accident took his life. Luckily for him, he was reborn in another world, leaving his sister alone in Japan. However, Maya’s love for her brother could not allow her to live without him, so she committed suicide in hopes of reuniting with him in the afterlife. As luck would have it, she finds herself in the same world her brother reincarnated in.

Asahi is scared of his sister for two reasons: because she is more powerful than him and she constantly clings to him. Maya will use her immaculate strength to kill monsters and protect her brother. It is easy for her, as all she needs is one hit. In the second episode of this anime, Maya unleashes a heavy-fire attack on slimes that does not require that much effort to be killed. In that same episode, she almost kills Kilmaria for wanting to fight with Asahi. The damage done in Claudio Forest, where the fight takes place, is extreme, as Maya makes multiple holes in the ground and destroys the trees surrounding them.

3 The Eminence In Shadow

Cid Kagenou

Cid Kagenou

Cid’s love for a fictional character he called “the Eminence in Shadow” led to his untimely death. This character he loved so much was a mysterious anti-hero who operates from the shadows and wields immense power. Luckily for Cid, his unfortunate death is a blessing in disguise as he reincarnates into a world where swords and magic exist, meaning that it is easier for him to achieve his dreams of being a shadow.

In this new life, Cid enjoys living out his fantasies and even lives a double life as a student and a mysterious shadow. He has multiple personas; one of them includes Jack the Ripper, where Cid becomes a serial killer, and it is in this persona that he is able to destroy the thirteen-night swords. His obsession with being a shadow led to his previous death, and now he does not seem to put enough thought into his actions, only wanting to look cool and mysterious. To his supporters, he is a genius mastermind, but in reality, he is extremely lucky and his mistakes work out in his favor.

2 Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious

Seiya Ryuuguuin

Seiya Ryuuguuin Defeated An Opponent

Seiya is called to be a hero, but in the process, the goddess who called him made him cautious in order to stop the spread of chaos. However, it seems as though Seiya is only causing more chaos anytime he fights. Seiya believes there is no reason to deliberately go and look for monsters to fight regardless of whether one is capable. His immaculate strength mixed with his overly cautious nature is a recipe for destruction, as Seiya only fights with monsters he is sure he can destroy, and when fighting, he gives his absolute all, making sure his enemy is obliterated.

Seiya’s opponent could be a slime, a demon, or a human, and each requires different levels of strength, but Seiya uses all his strength despite his opponent. Like when he fought the demon lord in episode 2, he used all his might and firepower to burn the demon to death. That was not enough for Seiya, as he gathered the burned remains of the demon and unleashed his hellfire power on her more than seven times because he wanted to eliminate the demon’s chances of regenerating. After this, there was already a hole in the ground, and the villagers had taken a rest from screaming only for Seiya to unleash his maximum inferno hidden skill, setting some buildings in the village on fire and making the villagers run for their dear lives as some of them caught fire, all while his opponent was the burnt remains of the demon. The village leader had to beg Seiya to leave town because the destruction was a lot. In another episode, he uses his fire skills to take down a lowly slime that he would have killed by just stepping on it.

1 I Was Reincarnated As The 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability

Prince Llyod de Saloum

Lloyd De Saloum

Llyod finds himself in a new world where magic exists. Born into a royal family, Lloyd does not have any pressing responsibilities and spends most of his time learning and trying out magic. Excited by his new life and powers, Lloyd sometimes gets carried out and causes massive destruction when it can be easily avoided. Because he is trying to perfect his magic, he tends to try all sorts of magic on an opponent.

In episode seven of this anime, Llyod battles an entire assassin guild. He showcased all his skills, making his opponents wonder how strong he is and what his limits are. Given his small stature, because he is a young boy, he is able to avoid their attacks while inflicting great harm on them.
