6 Beginner Tips For Silent Hill 2 Remake
Here’s what new players will need to know before entering the misty town of Silent Hill as James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Without a doubt, Silent Hill has some of the creepiest monsters in all of horror games and many of them originated in Silent Hill 2 like Pyramid Head. There are other contenders as well from normal enemies to bosses. Here’s a ranking of the most horrifying ones that will be hard to erase from our dreams at night.
WARNING! Spoilers ahead!
7 Lying Figures
This Bag Of Flesh Is Filled With Bile
- First Location: Streets of Silent Hill
Lying Figures are the first monster players will meet in the game. They look like flesh-covered straight jacket-wearing wild fiends who like to hobble through streets or slither on the ground like a snake.
Their ground form is incredibly fast too and makes for one unnerving monster in the game if players aren’t paying attention. The worst part about them is their spew of acidic liquid. It’s hard to dodge through all of their muck when fighting with melee weapons in Silent Hill 2 like the Wooden Plank or Pipe.
6 Spider Mannequins
A New Threat From Above
There is a new enemy in Silent Hill 2 that has no official name. They look like Mannequins as they are nothing but legs sewn together at the torso. However, the proportions are different with the legs and these nightmares can climb, so Spider Mannequins sounds fitting for a nickname at least.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Voice Actor Cast List
Silent Hill 2 Remake has an amazing cast of voice actors that bring realistic levels of emotion behind every line delivered by in-game characters.
They will appear in the Toluca Prison which is already a horrific place because the lighting is low, giving these creatures the perfect cover for when they skitter around on walls and the ceiling. They’re hard to see and hit with gun-based weapons, making them an unnerving enemy.
5 Abstract Daddy
What Is Wrong With This Door?
Abstract Daddy is one of Silent Hill 2’s few bosses. It looks like two people morphed into one another and then also glued onto a door. This hulking monstrosity will await players at the end of the Toluca Prison area as a manifestation of Angela’s childhood trauma regarding her father.
It’s slow but it can burst through walls like the Kool-Aid Man but less inviting because Abstract Daddy doesn’t have fun drinks. Bursting through walls uninvited is scary enough but the design is just as unsettling.
4 Flesh Lip
The Lips Truly Are Horrific
- Location: Brookhaven Hospital
Flesh Lip is another boss in Silent Hill 2 that is less intimidating strength-wise but the design is nightmare fuel. This thing’s body is wrapped in a steel cage and the only part popping out is its moth which is located at the bottom.
This implies that the mouth is in the private area and that alone is not fun to think about. Flesh Lip will hide in the ceiling and then burst down onto unsuspecting players below. It’s a tricky boss fight that becomes harder once the cage loosens and it grows metallic spider-like limbs. This situation is not a good one to be in since the room is tiny as well.
3 Mandarins
Three Lips Are Better Than One
Mandarins are the hardest enemies to take down in the game but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the scariest. Players will first encounter them in the Labyrinth and they might not even know they are there. A lot of the flooring in the Labyrinth is made out of steel mesh and bugs are everywhere as well, helping hide their presence.
Mandarins hide underneath the mesh, climbing around like monkeys. Their head is one big set of lips and each arm has a big mouth attached at the end as well. Mandarins make the Flesh Lip look timid by comparison and they are hard to kill too thanks to their climbing skills and their whip-like tongues.
2 Mannequins
Standing Still And Waiting To Pounce
- Location: Wood Side Apartments
Mannequins are near the top because they ignore conventional warnings. They will not have the radio erupt in static but there will be a faint distraction along with a light flicker, so players won’t be totally lost if they pay attention.

Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake features 8 endings, each with a distinct canon as to how the story ends.
Mannequins stay still like statues until players get close enough and then they attack like wild animals. Their speed is unnatural along with their animations which can sometimes resemble a stop-motion film. They rank up there with some of the scariest monsters in video games of all time.
1 Pyramid Head
The Most Recognizable Character In The Series
- Location: Wood Side Apartments
Pyramid Head is the poster child for the Silent Hill series and not just Silent Hill 2. He looks the most humanoid of the monsters in the game but he still conveys an unnatural wellness. There’s the giant triangular metal hat he wears on his head along with his giant sword. The first time players meet him is in the hallway of the Wood Side Apartments.
He’s just standing there looking at James through iron bars. Strangely, James doesn’t say anything but that’s an issue throughout the entire journey. Either way, Pyramid Head is an icon as a monster and boss who stands out even amongst playable characters in terms of recognition.
