For some players, the Moonstone Axe is going to be the weapon to beat in Hades 2. Supergiant Games is going to have to make that mystery sixth weapon a real banger if it hopes to beat out the Moonstone Axe. There are downsides to it such as the heft of the blade.

Hades 2: Beginners Tips and Guide
Hades 2 can be a tough challenge for newcomers. With these beginner tips, players can learn the basics of the game.
In other action games, one would have to trade power for speed since the Moonstone Axe is slow. It doesn’t reach tortoise-levels of slowness though and players can actually speed up the Moonstone Axe via Boons. There are other ways to power the weapon up in Hades 2 as well, so let’s get to some good Boon/weapon combos.
8 Unyielding Slash
Daedalus Hammer
- More Attack Power Bolstered By Defense
Unyielding Slash is a Daedalus Hammer Boon for the Moonstone Axe in Hades 2. The weapon overall is the strongest in the game but it does come with a disadvantage. It hits hard but players have to be close to enemies to do damage.
Unyielding Slash adds some protection to this disadvantage as it will reduce damage by 20% as long as players are attacking. Attacks will also gain a bonus of 10 to the modifier and these stats are only for the base Boon’s model.
7 Furious Whirlwind
Daedalus Hammer
- Charge Omega Attacks Faster
The normal attacks with the Moonstone Axe are strong enough but the charged version is even better. It will turn players into a spinning top and it will last longer the more Magick is put into it. It’s a really good attack to use against one of Hades 2’s secret bosses, Chardybis, who launches a lot of tentacles for players to both hit and dodge away from.
The disadvantage to this spinning attack is that it takes a while to reach full power and the speed is not amazing. It can be hard to reach a lot of enemies with the base speed but the Furious Whirlwind Boon on the Daedalus Hammer fixes those problems. The charge rate will be 60% faster and the movement speed will be quicker too.
6 Flutter Strike
Aphrodite
- Close-Range Damage Increases
Moving away from the Daedalus Hammer, players should look into the goddess Aphrodite to enhance the Moonstone Axe too. Flutter Strike will increase damage when up close and personal which is how the weapon is meant to be wielded.

Hades 2: 6 Best Improvements From The First Game
Hades 2 has introduced a few key improvements from the first game. While still in Early Access, here’s what the best changes are so far.
The Epic version of this Boon increases attacks by 120% which is astoundingly huge. However, even on the lowest tier of this Boon, Flutter Strike will add some nice oomph to attacks. If players also have Unyielding Slash equipped then the Moonstone Axe will be close to unstoppable.
5 Rapture Ring
Aphrodite
- Draw Enemies In With Casts
Players should not ignore their Casts even with the Moonstone Axe equipped. The normal version will trap enemies inside for a short period, allowing players to wreak havoc in a small area. It’s a good time to use the spinning attack. It will be easier to gather more enemies in a single Cast with the Rapture Ring Boon from Aphrodite equipped.
This will draw enemies toward the Cast and it will also inflict Weak on them. The Weak stat debuff will reduce their defenses by 10% for starters which will in turn enhance attack power in a roundabout way.
4 Local Climate
Demeter
- Cast Damage Up And It Follows You
Local Climate is a Boon from the goddess of seasons, Demeter, who returns as a deity in Hades 2. This a great Boon to combine with Aphrodite’s Rapture Ring as Local Climate will activate Cast around Melinoe. This means that wherever she goes, the Cast goes as well.
Players can draw enemies while they move, giving them more opportunities to do a lot of grouped area damage. It’s a good Boon for any weapon, but it’s especially useful since the Moonstone Axe has that charged spin attack.
3 Fluid Gain
Poseidon
- Chance To Spawn Spirit Bubbles
Fluid Gain is one of Poseidon’s Boons in Hades 2, the brother of Zeus and god of the high seas. He’s one of the more charismatic gods in the game which is a fun continuation from the first Hades.

Hades 2: Every Boss In Early Access, Ranked
With Hades 2 in Early Access, players have a couple of bosses to experience in Supergiant’s roguelike. Here’s how they rank up so far.
Fluid Gain will give players a chance to spawn Spirit Bubbles whenever they attack with Melinoe. A Spirit Bubble can heal Magick Energy which is needed for those spin attacks and for Casts. If players can produce enough Spirit Bubbles in a cyclone then they could become unstoppable and the rarer this Boon is, the more Spirit Bubbles will appear.
Hephaestus
- Gain Armor And Remain Steadfast
A good defense is as important as a good offense because a giant weapon like the Moonstone Axe can only do so much for Melinoe. Heavy Metal is a boon from Hephaestus who is the god of the forge in Hades 2. It will add an armor bonus to health which will deplete instead of HP if players are hit.
Armor cannot be healed unless players find a specific item or Boon for Melinoe, so some may find it a wasteful Boon to invest in. It’s a gamble in Hades 2, but any item or ability that will keep the hero alive longer in a roguelike should be prioritized.
1 Tough Trade
Hephaestus
- Grow Stronger If Hit In The Middle Of An Attack
The final Boon that will turn Melinoe into a true goddess with the Moonstone Axe is called Tough Trade. It’s another one from Hephaestus and if she gets hit in the middle of an attack, her attacks will grow stronger. It’s like this game’s version of a berserk class or status effect in other RPGs.
The big difference is that players do not lose control of Melinoe once Tough Trade is activated. Players will be lucky to find all of these Boons in the same run but any mixture of these eight will surely make for an extended experience.
