This rugged phone’s removable camera can survive and capture your extreme adventures

RugOne’s Xsnap 7 Pro comes with both an IP68 and IP69K rating, meaning the rugged phone can survive intense water blasts and complete submersion for up to 30 minutes. But what really sets the Xsnap 7 Pro apart from everything else on the market is that one of its three rear cameras can be removed and used as a standalone action cam. It made its debut at MWC 2026 earlier this year but is launching through Kickstarter on September 7th for €799 (around $930) in limited quantities, followed by a global release in October for $999.

The Xsnap 7 Pro’s detachable camera module isn’t quite as a capable as the DJI Osmo Nano or the Insta360 Go Ultra that both record at 4K. Its video capabilities max out at 2.7K at up to 30fps captured through a 133-degree ultrawide field-of-view lens. Video is processed by distortion correction algorithms to keep subjects looking natural, while software stabilization helps smooth out footage even when the camera is flipped 360 degrees, RugOne claims.

The action cam’s battery keeps it recording for up to 40 minutes, which can be extended to up to 800 minutes when repeatedly docked and charged using the phone’s own 9,300mAh battery. The camera’s 64GB of built-in storage can hold up to eight hours of 1080p footage, but videos can be transferred to the Xsnap 7 Pro’s 512GB of storage every time it’s docked. Waterproofing for the camera is slightly better than the phone, as it can be used to a depth of 5 meters instead of just 2.

The Xsnap 7 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G processor with 12GB of RAM and ships with Android 16 with upgrades to up to Android 20 promised. It’s got a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen that can be used as a wireless preview screen for the action camera at distances of up to 160 feet. Alongside the detachable camera, the Xsnap 7 pro includes a 32MP selfie camera on the front plus a stabilized 50MP main camera on the back, alongside a 64MP night vision camera boosted with infrared LEDs.
