The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s voice actress for this game’s version of Princess Zelda weighs in on the upcoming live-action theatrical film. After some early rumors from earlier this year, Nintendo and Sony Pictures announced that the two companies are producing a live-action Legend of Zelda movie. A film based on Nintendo’s second-biggest IP was one that many had wanted for the longest time, and it is now going to be a reality. This film will have Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad as its producers, while Wes Ball of Maze Runner fame will be its director.

After the confirmation of the film’s production, some fans have posted their own potential cast lists for this upcoming Zelda film. While Princess Zelda has been portrayed by various actors in the past, one actor that stands out is the one from Tears of the Kingdom, with the character being voiced by Patricia Summersett. Alongside Summersett voicing Princess Zelda in Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, and Tears of the Kingdom, she has starred in live-action films, such as 2018’s Maz and 2019’s The Great Traveller. With the production of a live-action Zelda film confirmed, the actor states how she’d love to reprise her role as the princess.

In an interview between GamesRadar and Patricia Summersett, the Tears of the Kingdom voice actor was asked about how she’d love to play Zelda again, to which she immediately said yes. “Of course I will,” said Summersett, “I would love to play Zelda over and over again.” When Summersett was asked about portraying the character in future appearances after Tears of the Kingdom, she voiced her eagerness to continue to play the part.

Summersett expressed her passion for playing the character, stating that she’s connected to the fanbase after seven years since initially voicing Princess Zelda in Breath of the Wild and portraying the character two more times in the games’ English dubs. Summersett considers playing Zelda to be an absolute joy and an integral part of her life, and she wants to continue to portray the character.

Even if she doesn’t get to portray Zelda herself, Summersett could get a chance to be in the film in the same vein as Charles Martinet’s cameos in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Martinet was the former voice of Mario and Luigi, who was brought in to voice various background characters for the animated Mario film. Summersett could be in the Zelda film as something similar, like as an attendant to Princess Zelda, for example. While the live-action actors for Link and Zelda haven’t been confirmed yet, Summersett being able to play the princess in both live-action and video game mediums would be an amazing opportunity.
