Final Fantasy 14 Hit With DDoS Attack

Malicious actors target the Final Fantasy 14 servers with a DDoS attack, disrupting players of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG in the process.

The Make-It-Rain Campaign starts on Wednesday, May 15, at 4:00 AM Eastern, and ends on Friday, May 31, at 10:59 AM Eastern. Players who want to earn the Imp Suit and Imp Head must complete a quest chain that starts with “Of Impish Importance.” The quest is given by an Elezen named Quevain, located near the Ul’dah Aetheryte Plaza, and requires Final Fantasy 14 players to reach level 15. After completing the campaign’s story quests, players can purchase a Cactuar Dining Table and a Senor Sabotender Chronometer for their houses. Both items will likely be sold for Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGP), which can be earned by doing Gold Saucer activities such as the Fashion Report. The amount of MGP rewarded from activities will also be boosted by 50% during the event.

Final Fantasy 14 Adding Imp Attire Based on FF6

Based on the green water monster from Final Fantasy 6, the Imp Attire was created at the request of Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. At the 2023 Tokyo Game Show, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that the Imp Attire was in the works. Yoshida jokingly wondered if it would meet with Sakaguchi’s approval, but did not say when the Imp Attire would be released.

After hearing that the Make-It-Rain Campaign would be how Final Fantasy 14 players obtain the Imp Attire, Sakaguchi posted a picture from the Tokyo FanFest to express his excitement. With Dawntrail on the horizon, it remains to be seen what else Square Enix will add to keep players’ attention.
