While The Acolyte is carving out its own timeline, fans are eager for connections to the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Recently, a mysterious figure emerged, sparking much speculation about their true identity. However, it has now been confirmed that this character is not who fans were hoping to see.

Star Wars: The Acolyte’s Flashback Episode Is Intentionally Inaccurate

The events in The Acolyte’s glance into the past are more complicated than they first appear, but how could they change in future installments?

The latest episode of The Acolyte introduced a new Jedi, sending Star Wars fans into a frenzy over this intriguing character. The Kel Dor Jedi led many to speculate that it might be the beloved prequel Jedi, Plo Koon. While this theory is fascinating, it has been confirmed that the character is not Plo Koon. The official Star Wars Twitter account addressed the rumors, clarifying that this mysterious figure is not Plo Koon but a new Jedi of the same species named Ithia Paan.

Plo Koon first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and quickly became a fan-favorite character. He was later featured in the animated series Clone Wars, where he served as a mentor and caretaker for Ahsoka Tano. Considering that The Acolyte is set in a timeline before the prequels, having Plo Koon in the series would seem unlikely. It has been previously stated that prequel characters would not appear in The Acolyte, and this has now been confirmed by the official Star Wars account. The new Kel Dor Jedi introduced in the series, named Ithia Paan, has no connection to Plo Koon and will represent the Kel Dor species in The Acolyte. While it is possible that this could change in future episodes, there is currently no additional information about Ithia Paan. The inclusion of this character might be an effort to introduce more diverse species into the series or to evoke a sense of nostalgia for the prequel trilogy without directly linking the two stories too closely.

While the theory of Plo Koon’s appearance in The Acolyte has been debunked, there is still some validity to it. The Kel Dor species, known for their long lifespans, could have feasibly included Plo Koon in the series. Set in the High Republic Era, exactly a century before Episode I, most characters would not have been born yet, but Plo Koon would have been alive and a Jedi. Born around 404 BBY, he was already a Jedi Knight at the time of the Khofar mission, making him approximately 272 years old in The Acolyte‘s timeline. By Episode I, he would have been 372, and 375 at the time of his death in 19 BBY. Despite this potential, the creators opted for a new Kel Dor Jedi character instead of bringing back Plo Koon. However, the series did reintroduce another prequel character, Ki-Adi Mundi, whose name was confirmed in the credits of episode 4. While Plo Koon will not be joining The Acolyte, the return of familiar faces and elements is thrilling, hinting at more surprises to come in future episodes.
