Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor – Best Class Mods to Pick

With a dozen different class mods available between four classes, here are the best of the lot to dominate Hazard 5 in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

Every playable character in
DRG: Survivor

has access to a unique pool of default weapons. The class mod you choose to play can also add weapons that belong to other characters or limit your weapons to a certain type. The weapons mentioned below have been picked from the default pool of each class.

Best Weapons for the Scout

DRG Survivor - Scout Weapons

The Scout class is all about doing insane amounts of damage while evading enemies with increased mobility. With a higher critical damage multiplier than other classes and weapons that melt enemies at long ranges, sacrificing health and armor seems like a small ask for playing as the Scout in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

Cryo Grenade

How to Unlock

Unlocked by default.

Tags

Throwable.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Cold, Explosive, and Area.

The Cryo Grenade explodes in an area to deal cold damage and slow enemies. While the damage is underwhelming, freezing groups of enemies gives the Scout an insane advantage on higher-difficulty runs where swarms can quickly rush in from all sides. Once you unlock the Cluster Grenades overclock, the Cryo Grenade will start freezing entire swarms. Have enough reload speed, and you can potentially perma-freeze enemies.

Jury-Rigged Boomstick

How to Unlock

Unlocked by default.

Tags

Medium.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Spray, and Projectile.

The sawed-off shotgun shoots a spread of pellets to deal massive damage at close range, which can be further amplified by unlocking the Thick Boy overclock. It also knocks back enemies, which is always helpful for the Scout since most of his weapons excel at long ranges. You need something to stop enemies from getting too close.

M1000 Classic

How to Unlock

Reach Scout Rank 3.

Weapon Type

Medium.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Precise, and Projectile.

The M1000 Classic is one of the best weapons in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. It shoots long-range piercing bullets that deal massive damage to all enemies in a straight line. It always targets enemies with the highest health, making the M1000 Classic an elite monster hunter. No other weapon can match the M1000 Classic in terms of raw damage, especially with a Sharp Shooter Scout build.

Nishanka Boltshark X-80

How to Unlock

Reach Scout Rank 24.

Weapon Type

Medium.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Acid, Electric, Precise, and Projectile.

Introducing Potency as a new gameplay mechanic has quickly pushed the Nishanka Boltshark X-80 as one of the best Scout weapons in DRG: Survivor. It shoots a single bolt at the strongest enemy in range, alternating between acid and electric damage to stack up elemental damage on top of its base damage. You can also add fire and cold damage to the rotation with overclocks. The Nishanka is one weapon that truly shines after being maxed out.

Best Weapons for the Gunner

DRG Survivor - Gunner Weapons

The Gunner comes with higher armor and health than the other playable classes. His default pool mostly contains heavy projectile weapons that can do explosive damage at long range. While reduced mobility might sometimes feel frustrating, the Gunner is a class that can stand its ground better than any other class in DRG: Survivor.

“Lead Storm” Powered Minigun

How to Unlock

Reach Player Rank 3.

Weapon Type

Heavy.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Spray, and Projectile.

The primary weapon of the Gunner fires a hail of bullets to shred everything in your path. Since it only fires in the direction you are facing, you are literally mowing down enemies while running around the map. With a large clip size and a high fire rate, the “Lead Storm” Powered Minigun is a force to be reckoned with at every level.

Tactical Leadburster

How to Unlock

Reach Gunner Rank 6.

Weapon Type

Throwable.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Lasting, Spray, and Projectile.

While heavy weapons are suited for the Gunner, do not shy away from picking the Tactical Leadburster. Unlike other grenades, the Leadburster shoots a hail of bullets in a spiral pattern. Get the Cluster Grenades to split it into three, and you will not even need your weapons to clear out an approaching swarm.

“Thunderhead” Heavy Autocannon

How to Unlock

Reach Gunner Rank 12.

Weapon Type

Heavy.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Precise, and Projectile.

If you are looking for something to crush every type of enemy, elites included, look no further than the “Thunderhead” Heavy Autocannon. It shoots exploding projectiles that deal massive damage and knock back enemies. The only problem is that it shoots in the same direction until the clip is empty, so you will need to move around to ensure all the bullets are landing on target. No Gunner build is complete with the Heavy Autocannon in DRG: Survivor.

Of the three biomes players will dig through in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, let’s go over which ones are the absolutely hardest.

Best Weapons for the Engineer

DRG Survivor - Engineer Weapons

The Engineer class excels in placing turrets and flying drones, which helps lock down areas but not as well to explore. This makes him the weakest of all four classes, but still a fun class to play.

Breach Cutter

How to Unlock

Reach Engineer Rank 15.

Weapon Type

Heavy.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Plasma, and Beam.

The Breach Cutter is a difficult weapon to level up. It shoots two bouncing plasma balls that are connected with a plasma beam. You cannot control the balls or the beam, so the weapon is not as efficient in clearing out a swarm as most other weapons. Ignoring the Breach Cutter, though, is a mistake by new players in DRG: Survivor. The bouncing plasma balls are excellent for choke points. When fully maxed out, the Breach Cutter can spam multiple plasma balls to clear an entire side of the map with ease.

LMG Gun Platform

How to Unlock

Reach Player Rank 15.

Weapon Type

Construct.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Turret, Lasting, and Projectile.

The starting weapon of the Engineer is the LMG Turret that shoots at nearby enemies. While pretty underwhelming at first, you can stack multiple turrets to create a wall against an approaching swarm. This is your bread and butter while leveling up an Engineer build in DRG: Survivor.

“Warthog” Auto 210

How to Unlock

Unlocked by default.

Weapon Type

Medium.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Kinetic, Spray, and Projectile.

The “Warthog” Auto 210 is another weapon that only shoots in the direction you are facing, which can often feel frustrating. However, it does decent damage with a fairly impressive clip size straight out of the box. With some level-ups and the right overclocks, the Auto 210 can be made to hit like a truck.

Best Weapons for the Driller

DRG Survivor - Driller Weapons

The Driller is an incredible class to play with in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. He has fast mining speed, making him the best class for farming resources. He also has many powerful elemental weapons in his kit that can be paired to burn, corrode, and freeze enemies.

CRSPR Flamethrower and Colette Wave Cooker

Reach Driller Rank 6.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Fire, Beam, Spray, and Lasting.

Fire, Beam, Spray, and Lasting.

The CRSPR Flamethrower and Colette Wave Cooker are phenomenal weapons for any fire-based Driller build in DRG: Survivor. They are mentioned together because both are quite similar. They shoot rotating beams of fire that continuously burn enemies. With enough Potency and Status Effect bonuses, you can stack a ton of fire damage against elites. Having both the Flamethrower and Wave Cooker ensures no enemy is getting past your circle of fire.

Corrosive Sludge Pump

How to Unlock

Reach Driller Rank 3.

Weapon Type

Heavy.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Acid, Beam, Spray, and Lasting.

The Corrosive Sludge Pump sprays a large area around you in acid to corrode the hard skins of enemies. While the base damage it does is low, enemies inflicted with acid take more damage than normal. Hence, you are softening all enemies on the map before they take amplified damage from your other weapons. It is a pretty useful weapon to have against bosses.

Cryo Cannon

How to Unlock

Reach Driller Rank 21.

Weapon Type

Heavy.

Damage Type & Other Tags

Cold, Beam, Precise, and Lasting.

Similar to the CRSPR Flamethrower, the Cryo Cannon shoots rotating beams of ice that slow or freeze enemies. It does impressive damage when upgraded and stops entire swarms in their tracks to let you move around better. Do note that frozen enemies still take burning damage from your Flamethrower, so you can freeze and burn enemies at the same time.
