Avalanche Software has released a brand-new update for Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts Legacy was first released in 2023 and was a virtually unprecedented success, becoming the year’s best-selling game and earning mostly positive reviews from critics and Harry Potter fans alike. While some may have expected developer Avalanche Software to capitalize on Hogwarts Legacy‘s popularity by releasing a big expansion, the studio instead decided to release smaller updates for the game aimed at fixing bugs and improving its functionality.

That’s the case for the majority of Hogwarts Legacy updates, but there have been some bigger ones as well. For example, a new Hogwarts Legacy update that was released in June added a slew of new features for players to try. That same update also opened the door for non-PlayStation gamers to check out previously exclusive content, like the haunted Hogsmeade shop quest. The latest update for Hogwarts Legacy isn’t nearly as extravagant, but it’s still an important one.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Should Go All In on Something Hogwarts Legacy Fumbled

Hogwarts Legacy 2 has the chance to expand the core concept considerably, and one of the best ways to do that would be through one fumbled feature.

Avalanche Software has released a new update for Hogwarts Legacy on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. The update looks to fix Hogwarts Legacy crashing issues, including the one impacting raytracing on PS5. The update also fixed incorrect translation, lighting errors, and stability problems. It’s unclear why this update was not deployed for Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 or Xbox One, but perhaps those versions of the game aren’t running into these issues. The Hogwarts Legacy update patch notes stress that there are still crashing issues in the game that haven’t been fixed, so fans can expect another update down the road.

Another issue addressed by the latest Hogwarts Legacy update pertains to its Photo Mode. According to the patch notes, the Hogwarts Legacy Photo Mode should work much better post-update, so those taking advantage of the feature should have a much smoother time using it from here on out.

While it’s unlikely that there will be any more big updates for Hogwarts Legacy on the scale of its June update, fans can rest assured that more Harry Potter content from Avalanche Software is on the way. Considering the success of the first game, it’s widely believed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development. The game has yet to be officially revealed by Avalanche Software or Warner Bros., but it will be interesting to see how it builds on the original.
