- The unique 2D mob vote art style has inspired tons of fanart over the years.
Many fans of Minecraft have become captivated by the unique art style used to advertise the game’s mob votes since the competition was introduced, but one creative member of the community has recreated every block and mob in the game using this aesthetic. This 2D art style has inspired many to imagine what Minecraft might look like if it were a side-scroller, with the style exclusively featuring a side-on view of blocks, and typically depicting mobs with larger heads and smaller bodies.
The art style has become synonymous with Minecraft‘s various mob vote events due to it being used in trailers and promotional content. Though mob votes tend to be viewed as a rather divisive topic by much of the Minecraft community, the events themselves have happened once every year since 2020, with the game’s first-ever mob vote taking place back in 2017 as a one-off event. Each mob vote features three unique mobs complete with their own habitats and behaviors, though only one candidate from any mob vote can make it into the game. The winner is chosen by an online community vote.

Any Future Minecraft Dimensions Need to Differ From the Nether and End in One Way
If Mojang decides to create a new dimension, they should make it different from the Nether or the End by making it easier for players in one way.
Often, the first look at any vote’s selection of mobs presents their concepts in this iconic “mob vote art style.” Over the past several years, the art style has found its way into tons of fan art, and one mega-fan known as Un_legoman on Reddit recently shared a huge portfolio of custom artwork that presents every single one of Minecraft‘s many blocks and critters in the famed mob vote style. This impressive array of work includes sprites for different mob variants as well, such as baby mobs, colored sheep, and different horse breeds. Astonishingly, this even includes unique sprites for seemingly every variant of tropical fish.
What Minecraft’s Blocks And Mobs Look Like In Mob Vote Style
Many Minecraft enthusiasts have even worked on texture packs that attempt to apply the iconic mob vote art style to the game’s 3D environment. Some fans have even crafted their own artwork depicting what Minecraft itself would look like if it was two-dimensional like Terraria, with such art taking direct inspiration from the mob vote style.
While this year’s mob vote is yet to be revealed, Minecraft‘s previous vote in October 2023 saw the addition of the armadillo mob, which drops armadillo scutes that players can use to craft armor for their dogs. The other candidates from last year’s vote had the potential to bring some other interesting features to the game, such as the crab claw, and players remain hopeful that past mob vote losers will still find themselves added to the game in the future.
