An Xbox 360 fan found a copy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted when they opened their used Elite console’s disc tray. Microsoft released multiple Xbox 360 variations over the course of the console’s lifespan. The initial batch of Xbox 360 consoles were not exactly the most well-made machines, with the Red Ring of Death causing over half of them to stop working.
Microsoft eventually released revamped Xbox 360 consoles without the dreaded defects that plagued its original batch of consoles. One such Xbox 360 re-release was the Elite console, which came a couple of years into the 360’s lifespan and came bundled with a 120 GB hard drive, significant storage space for the time. The Xbox 360 Elite console became a favorite among gamers for its hard drive and matte black design.

July 29 Is Going to Be a Sad Day for Xbox 360 Fans
Monday, July 29 is going to be a devastating day for fans of Microsoft’s classic Xbox 360 console.
Recently, Reddit user Minute_Piece8984 purchased an Xbox 360 Elite console. They didn’t specify how much they paid for the console, but when they opened its disc tray, they found a loose copy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted inside. For the uninitiated, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the 2005 Need for Speed game and a launch title for the 360. Need for Speed: Most Wanted earned high reviews from critics at the time of its release. The game is not available to purchase digitally through the Xbox 360 marketplace, which has caused the price of its physical copies to go up. Ebay listings show that the game goes for anywhere from $25 to $60, making this a great surprise bonus to go along with the Elite console.
Gamer Finds Surprise Copy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted in Xbox 360 Elite Console
Unfortunately, it’s likely that the prices of all Xbox 360 games will be going up soon. Microsoft is shutting down the Xbox 360 digital storefront on July 29, at which point some games will be lost forever and others will likely see a big price increase for their physical versions. As a matter of fact, there’s data indicating that Xbox 360 game prices are already going up, which is bad news for collectors or anyone that is itching to take a trip down memory lane by picking up some old 360 titles.
The good news is that there are many Xbox 360 games that are playable on modern consoles, and those will remain available for purchase even after the 360 marketplace shuts down on July 29. Need for Speed: Most Wanted isn’t among them, which is a shame, but hopefully the fan favorite game makes a comeback of some kind down the road.
