Helldivers 2 Shouldn’t Allow Super Earth to Be Safe and Sound

Throughout the many Galactic War cycles in the original Helldivers, Super Earth has been under siege several times. Regardless of whether players were able to defend Super Earth or if it fell to the enemies of managed democracy, another Galactic War would always provide a clean slate and a new Super Earth to fight for. However, in Helldivers 2, Super Earth has remained out of reach from the ongoing conflict thus far.

Even though it’s likely only a matter of time until Helldiver 2’s first Galactic War comes to Super Earth, it might be worth throwing this curveball into the mix to shake things up sooner rather than later. Especially considering that Super Earth could be the perfect opportunity for new mission types and environments that are completely different from what players have grown familiar with, Helldivers 2 shouldn’t allow Super Earth to remain hidden away from the glorious Galactic War forever.

Helldivers 2’s Super Earth Could be Key to Introducing New Mission Types

In the original Helldivers, Super Earth was a visually different planet compared to the rest of the galaxy, but the mission types that players would encounter on Super Earth were often the same as the ones found on almost any given planet. With Helldivers 2’s version of Super Earth currently being uncharted territory, there’s still plenty of opportunity for this planet to be a highly memorable moment in the Galactic War, and introducing new mission types in Helldivers 2 could be a great way to pull this off.

For instance, Super Earth being at the center of the war fronts could be the key to introducing missions with multiple enemy types present, where players could fight Automatons and Terminids simultaneously. Not to mention, the highly-anticipated Illuminate enemies in Helldivers 2 might also be worth bringing into this kind of hybrid mission, assuming that this faction has been introduced to the game by the time the Galactic War reaches Super Earth. Mission types with multiple enemy factions have been a relatively popular request among Helldivers 2’s community, and Super Earth admittedly sounds like the perfect opportunity to do so.

Super Earth could also present the opportunity to introduce new mission types based on the local environment. Overall, Helldivers 2 still arguably has a lot of room to grow with new mission types including main objectives as well as secondary objectives. Given how vastly different Super Earth is expected to be compared to some of the more open planets throughout the galaxy, Super Earth seemingly has a lot of potential to introduce new mission types or otherwise, unique variations of existing ones, like that pesky civilian-escort mission.

Helldivers 2’s Galactic War is Overdue for a Change of Scenery

So far, the timeline of the current Galactic War has reached a bit of a stalemate. Although it’s believed to be inevitable, this suggests that the current Galactic War is still likely a long way away from reaching Super Earth, which is a bit of a double-edged sword.

, the longest Galactic War in the original
Helldivers
lasted 67 days, while the shortest lasted only 3 days. Meanwhile, the first Galactic War in
Helldivers 2
has lasted over 150 days so far, with no end in sight.

There are said to be unique encounters at certain stages of the Galactic War, whereas a longer war will presumably provide players with multiple opportunities to experience these special moments. However, these encounters don’t all need to be packed into one big Galactic War, considering how repetitive this has proven to be between these major events in Helldivers 2. So, with all of the new gameplay opportunities that Super Earth could present, Helldivers 2 shouldn’t be afraid to bring the Galactic War to home and leave some tricks up its sleeve for future Galactic Wars.
