Gyms are important for trainers wanting to improve their team in Pokemon GO. Trainers can battle the Pokemon of their rivals to take control of these points of interest and claim the Gym for their team. Each trainer of the same team can assign one Pokemon to defend a Gym, with up to a total of 6 defending creatures. Defending or attacking a Gym in Pokemon GO awards the progression of a badge that grants an additional bonus when spinning the Gym’s Photo Disc to collect experience points, Poke Balls, Berries, and other useful in-game items.
