- Marvel Snap developers have lowered ante and payouts for Deadpool’s Diner event due to fan backlash.
- Players were unhappy with high Bub costs and lockout times.
- Second Dinner reduced entry fees for Cereal plate to 1 Bub, with payouts ranging from 8-32 Bubs.
The developers behind Marvel Snap have lowered the minimum ante and payouts for the limited-time Deadpool’s Diner event following some negative feedback from fans. The special event in Marvel Snap has players wagering a new kind of currency called Bubs, but the high initial entry cost for even the lowest tier has left some players calling it a poorly designed cash grab.
Running from July 23 through August 6, the mode is part of a special Deadpool-themed season being held in the game alongside the highly anticipated theatrical release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Part of the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the movie will hit theaters across the United States on July 26 and features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their roles as the titular characters.

Marvel Snap: Thanos Rework Explained
Marvel Snap’s June 2024 patch made huge changes to Thanos’ gameplay by changing the effects of five of his six Infinity Stones.
Playing Marvel Snap involves building a deck and facing others in one-on-one matches that typically run for six rounds. Deadpool’s Diner follows this format but requires players to pay a certain amount of Bubs to enter each “plate,” with the highest tier costing a whopping 51.2 million Bub entry fee for a single game. The lowest tiered plate, titled Cereal, still initially cost a 10 Bub ante with the payout pot rising to a range between 80-320 Bubs as the game went into its later rounds without one player forfeiting. However, one day after launching the limited-time game mode, developer Second Dinner announced via Twitter that it was lowering the entry fee of Cereal to a single Bub, with payout rewards also being lowered to a range between eight and 32 Bubs.
Marvel Snap Fixes Deadpool’s Diner’s Biggest Problem
While the developer gave no initial explanation for the change, many fans have been complaining that, due to Cereal’s entry cost, a single loss can effectively lock players out for eight hours as they wait for their Bubs meter to refill, unless they spend real-world money to replenish their Bubs. Replying to some fans’ comments, the Second Dinner Twitter account doesn’t specifically acknowledge the lockout issue for players who are unwilling to pay money in Marvel Snap‘s shops, but it does state that players who wait the full eight hours for their Bubs meter to refill after a loss are free to skip Cereal entirely and move onto the next plate, as every other plate still has its original ante and payout amounts.
Deadpool’s Diner hasn’t been the first complaint fans have had about the online card battler game. Expanding its list of cards and locations regularly since its release in 2022, the game has come under fire from fans for releasing some overpowered cards that throw off the balance in the one-on-one match-ups. However, Marvel Snap’s addition of Conquest Mode and spotlight caches has given players new ways to collect cards and battle others around the world as the game continues to evolve.
