Many new creatures have been added to No Man’s Sky thanks to the Worlds Part 1 update. While flying species weren’t specifically included as a part of the Worlds Part 1 update, there could be an increase in plant/animal hybrid fliers.

No Man’s Sky Player Searches Over 900 Systems in Search of Paradise Planet
One player travels to over 900 systems in No Man’s Sky in their hunt for the perfect Paradise planet to make their base of operations.
Reddit user chrismarinoccio posted their discovery of a flying creature with multiple wings and stunning red, orange, and purple coloring. The animal in question is extremely similar in design to the Toruk from Avatar, used by the Na’vi to patrol the skies. The body shape is almost identical, with the main difference between the two being the shape of the wings. So close were they in appearance, chrismarinoccio renamed the creature Toruk before sharing it with the No Man’s Sky subreddit community.
No Man’s Sky Player Finds A Toruk from Avatar
The animal was found on a Frozen Planet, which received a refresh in No Man’s Sky Worlds Part 1. Whether the Toruk-like flier would have been generated before the update is unknown. It is, however, a rare animal that can be difficult to locate and catalog. The final image shared by chrismarinoccio explains that the animal was found on the planet Iaberry, though no coordinates were included in the post.
Other users participating in the thread confirmed the similarity to Avatar‘s Toruk, with one player showing off their discovery of a blue version of the beast. The creature isn’t traditionally tameable, but can be by editing one’s pet registry save file for No Man’s Sky. The only other way to obtain a mountable Toruk is to find a player with an egg who is willing to share. No players were mentioned to have bred the beast or were willing to trade their eggs.
More creature changes could be coming in the future with the release of Worlds Part 2. No details regarding what the update will include have been confirmed by Hello Games, but there are rumors that a new star system may be added to No Man’s Sky. With the possibility of a new system type comes the possibility of completely new creatures that haven’t been seen in the game before.
