One Piece: 8 Strong Characters With Weak Devil Fruits
Though otherwise strong, these One Piece characters got the short end of the stick with weak devil fruits.
So far, the Blackbeard Pirates have been involved in the Paramount War, Payback War, and the Rocky Port Incident. After the time skip, the crew has been actively hunting devil fruit users, in order to steal their abilities. They have already got their hands on some of the most powerful devil fruits in One Piece, and they will continue to hunt until they are stopped.
Updated on November 26, 2023, by Suzail Ahmad: The Blackbeard Pirates are one of the four most powerful pirate crews in One Piece. They have terrorized hundreds of people with their ridiculous strength. The Blackbeard Pirates are a perfect representation of a real-life pirate crew. They do not care about killing and maiming people for fun or to extort treasure. The crew wasn’t always strong; in fact, they had to search for powerful Devil Fruits. The devil fruit abilities of the Blackbeard Pirates gave them the push that they needed to be recognized as one of the most dangerous pirate crews in the world.
12 Gabu Gabu no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 1080
- Class: Paramecia
The Gabu Gabu no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit that belongs to Vasco Shot. The devil fruit was introduced in Chapter 1080 when the Marines attacked Hachinosu to rescue Koby. Vasco Shot did not get the chance to display the abilities of the devil fruit, but it is safe to assume that it is a powerful devil fruit.
The Gabu Gabu no Mi is perfect for Vasco Shot, as the pirate loves to drink alcohol. He was even willing to infiltrate a town just to get his hands on some booze.
Strongest Attack: Vasco Shot has yet to utilize the devil fruit’s power, but given the fact there is going to be a major war on Hachinosu, it will happen sooner rather than later.
Weakness: The Devil Fruit allows Vasco Shot to use alcohol as a medium to set a person or object on fire. So, if there is a person with a Devil Fruit that nullifies fire, Vasco Shot would be unable to harm them.
11 Shima Shima no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 1080
- Class: Paramecia
The Shima Shima no Mi was eaten by Avalo Pizzaro. It is unclear when Pizzaro consumed the devil fruit, but it was most likely during the Blackbeard Pirates’ hunt for powerful abilities. The Shima Shima no Mi is an upgraded version of Pica’s Ishi Ishi no Mi; however, while Pica can only control buildings made out of stone, Pizarro has no such restrictions.
One Piece: 5 Greatest Things Done By Nika
Here are Nika’s biggest achievements in One Piece so far.
He is able to merge freely with the environment of an entire island, and he is able to take control of every single construct. Furthermore, Pizzaro is able to sense the happenings taking place on the island, as evidenced by the fact that he found out about Koby escaping along with the other prisoners.
Strongest Attack: The Shima Shima no Mi grants its user incredible power. Pizzaro can easily wreak havoc on an island and destroy every single structure in the area. He has yet to use a named attack, but he is confident in his ability to cause major damage with minimal effort.
Weakness: While the Shima Shima no Mi offers a tremendous amount of strength, it also increases the area that can be targeted to damage the user. Any kind of attack dealt to the surroundings will cause injury to Pizzaro.
10 Deka Deka no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 575
- Class: Paramecia
This paramecia-type devil fruit was eaten by San Juan Wolf. The devil fruit’s power was teased before One Piece‘s time skip, but it wasn’t named until Chapter 1080. The devil fruit’s power is pretty simple since it just increases the user’s size significantly. San Juan Wolf was able to use the devil fruit’s power to increase his size to the point where he could simply stand in the ocean.
He could still move around despite being surrounded by water. Given his ginormous size, San Juan Wolf can lay waste to entire cities by himself. Avalo Pizzaro and Vasco Shot were reluctant to ask for his help to capture Koby and the other escapees on Hachinosu. Both of them decided he would cause too much damage.
Strongest Attack: Unfortunately, San Juan Wolf has not been given the license to go all out in a fight. So, fans are yet to see what he is capable of achieving with his devil fruit.
Weakness: San Juan Wolf’s Devil Fruit has one big drawback, which is that he cannot move around freely all the time. His movement is restricted, and if he goes on a rampage with the crew nearby, there is a chance he might hurt his allies.
9 Wapu Wapu no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 1063
- Class: Paramecia
The Wapu Wapu no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, and it was eaten by Van Augur, who is the Sniper of the Blackbeard pirates. He demonstrated this power in One Piece Chapter 1063.
As the name suggests, the devil fruit allows its user to warp themselves and also other people. He used this ability to warp Jesus Burgess to the island where the Heart Pirates had docked. This ability can be potentially lethal as Van Augur could possibly warp his bullets, making it seemingly impossible for his targets to dodge.
Strongest Attack: Van Augur has only used one named technique, called Warp. With the help of this technique, Van Augur is able to warp himself and others to different locations.
Weakness: For now, it seems that the Devil Fruit has a simple ability. But it is highly likely that there is some kind of drawback. There may be a time limit on how many times he can warp in a given time.
8 Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune
- Debut: Chapter 925
- Class: Mythical Zoan
The mythical Inu Inu no Mo, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune, is a zoan-type devil fruit, that had the power to turn a person into a nine-tailed fox. The devil fruit was consumed by Catarina Devon, and its power was revealed when Gekko Moria came to Hachinosu to find Absalom.
Moria was unaware that Absalom had been murdered by the Blackbeard Pirates, so it was easy for Devon to fool him. She used the devil fruit’s power to turn into Absalom, which caused Moria to lower his guard, thus allowing Shiryu to land an attack on the former Shichibukai.
Strongest Attack: Catarina Devon is considered to be the most dangerous female prisoner to ever be imprisoned inside Impel Down. Catarina Devon’s devil fruit enables her to change her appearance, and she has already demonstrated the power once. However, she has not used the devil fruit’s power to attack anyone yet.
Weakness: Devon’s devil fruit is perfect for infiltration and tricking someone, but it is unclear whether it grants any special physical advantages. If that turns out to be true, then she will be at a significant disadvantage in a fight.
7 Riki Riki no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 1063
- Class: Paramecia
The Riki Riki no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, which belongs to Jesus Burgess. He is the captain of the first ship of the Blackbeard Pirates, which implies that he is Blackbeard’s right-hand man. Burgess’ devil fruit grants its user a frightening amount of power, as he demonstrated by lifting a mountain with his hands.
One Piece: Luffy’s Strongest Allies, Ranked
Here are Monkey D. Luffy’s strongest allies to date.
Back in the Dressrosa arc, Burgess tried to gain the Mera Mera no Mi, but his attempt ended in failure because of Sabo. It seems that Burgess’ face has also taken damage from Sabo’s attacks, which was evident when he was fighting the Heart Pirates.
Strongest Attack: Burgess has become a true powerhouse who can lift even the biggest of objects with little to no difficulty. It also doesn’t seem that the devil fruit has any restrictions on how much Burgess can lift. He only received a few panels worth of screen time in the Egghead arc, so he wasn’t able to show off his true strength, but he did throw an entire mountain at the Heart Pirates.
Weakness: The Riki Riki no Mi is a devil fruit that increases a person’s physical strength. It does not improve Burgess’ endurance or any other physical attribute. So, a well-placed hit will deal significant damage to Burgess.
6 Suke Suke no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 925
- Class: Paramecia
Originally, the Suke Suke no Mi belonged to Absalom of the Thriller Bark Pirates. Unfortunately, he was traced and killed by the Blackbeard Pirates, and his devil fruit was given to Shiryu. The devil fruit grants its user the power to turn invisible.
The devil fruit’s effects can be passed onto anything that the user touches, which makes it a lethal ability. Shiryu used the power of the Suke Suke no Mi to injure Gekko Moria.
Strongest Attack: Shiryu has a knack for fighting, but so far he has not used any named attacks. He did attack Moria using the Suke Suke no Mi, but it was only a regular slash. The upcoming arcs will definitely feature Shiryu, so fans can expect to see more from him.
Weakness: The ability to become invisible can come in handy, especially on the battlefield or for sneaking inside a well-protected facility. However, a person with good Observation Haki should be able to detect Shiryu’s presence without any problems.
5 Shiku Shiku no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 1063
- Class: Paramecia
The Shiku Shiku no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, and currently, it is in the possession of Doc Q. The devil fruit is capable of infecting the target(s) with all kinds of sickness. In the manga, Doc Q used the Feminization Disease against Trafalgar Law, which turned him into a female.
10 Most Evil Anime Tyrants
These cruel anime leaders will not hesitate to further their interests even if it leads to the detriment of their own subjects.
Any crew member who came in contact with Law was also affected by the disease. It is unknown what other kinds of diseases this devil fruit can create, but that should be revealed in the final saga. The devil fruit can be overpowered by releasing a great deal of Haki, which was demonstrated by Trafalgar Law.
Strongest Attack: So far, Doc Q has only used the Shiku Shiku no Mi’s power to create the Feminization Disease. But there is no doubt that he has plenty of other lethal attacks in his arsenal.
Weakness: With the Shiku Shiku no Mi, Doc Q can potentially create deadly diseases. However, it is worth remembering that these ailments can be contagious and possibly affect his allies in battle. Therefore, Doc Q must be extremely wary of where he uses his power.
4 Uma Uma no Mi, Model: Pegasus
- Debut: Chapter 1063
- Class: Mythical Zoan
The mythical Uma Uma no Mi, Model: Pegasus was eaten by Stronger, who serves as Doc Q’s personal ride. It was a zoan-type devil fruit, which allowed its user to transform into Pegasus, a creature prominent in Greek Mythology.
Pegasus looks like an ordinary horse, except it has wings on either side of its body that allow it to fly. The first time the devil fruit was revealed was when Blackbeard flew toward Trafalgar Law on Stronger.
Strongest Attack: Despite eating a Mythical Zoan-type devil fruit, Stronger’s resilience was still below par as he looked dead after getting caught up in Blackbeard’s attacks. Due to his limited screen time, he didn’t get a chance to demonstrate any attacking abilities.
Weakness: Through his involvement in the battle against Heart Pirates, Stronger’s devil fruit only grants him the ability to fly. He cannot do anything else, so any kind of attack would be enough to kill him. Under a different user, the devil fruit would be much more lethal.
3 Hie Hie no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 303
- Class: Logia
It is a logia-type devil fruit that was eaten by the former Navy Admiral, Aokiji. The devil fruit is absurdly powerful as it allows its user to manipulate ice at will. Aokiji can freeze any person or object within seconds, thus rendering them incapable of fighting.
Due to his ability, Aokiji played a very crucial role in the Navy’s victory over the Whitebeard Pirates. If it weren’t for his power, Whitebeard would have destroyed the entire island within seconds.
Strongest Attack: Aokiji is a veteran when it comes to fighting. After spending so much time with the Hie Hie no Mi, Aokiji has developed several techniques. However, Ice Age stands above the rest. With the help of this attack, Aokiji can freeze entire bodies of water and any living beings that may be present on or under them.
Weakness: The Hie Hie no Mi is an exceptionally powerful devil fruit. Aokiji has achieved many great things in his life with the devil fruit. But it is not exactly a power that makes him invincible. The Hie Hie no Mi has a major elemental disadvantage against fire and anything else that is hot. Aokiji’s fights against Ace and Akainu perfectly illustrate this weakness.
2 Gura Gura no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 577
- Class: Paramecia
The Gura Gura no Mi is undoubtedly one of the most powerful devil fruits in the entire series. It is said to have the power to destroy the world and considering what a dying Whitebeard did to Marineford with this devil fruit, it is not debatable at all.
The devil fruit allows its user to create quakes at any location, and these quakes can cause absolute mayhem. After the death of Whitebeard, this paramecia-type devil fruit was stolen by Blackbeard.
Strongest Attack: Given the fact that Blackbeard is much younger than Whitebeard, he is able to use the Gura Gura no Mi without any problems. During the Marineford arc, Blackbeard managed to use Shima Yurashi, although he lacked finesse. Since the time skip, Blackbeard has improved his control, and his attacks are much more dangerous.
Weakness: The Gura Gura no Mi’s destructive power is nothing to laugh about. This paramecia type devil fruit can cause tremors strong enough to turn the world upside down. The devil fruit does have one major weakness: it can potentially harm Blackbeard’s allies. So, he has to take the utmost precaution before unleashing a devastating quake.
1 Yami Yami no Mi
- Debut: Chapter 440
- Class: Logia
The Yami Yami no Mi is the perfect devil for someone like Blackbeard, whose heart is filled with nothing but darkness. Despite being a logia-type devil fruit, it does not provide its user with intangibility. However, it more than makes up for it with its power.
The Yami Yami no Mi enables its user to manipulate darkness at will. The darkness created by the devil fruit can take in everything, and once an object has been trapped inside, infinite gravity crushes it. In addition to this, the devil fruit allows Blackbeard to nullify the power of other devil fruits, which gives him a huge advantage in battles.
Strongest Attack: Blackbeard has been using the Yami Yami no Mi for a long time. On Banaro Island, Blackbeard used Black Hole, an attack that managed to engulf the entire town. Due to the stupendous gravitational force, all the buildings in the vicinity were crushed. So far, it is Blackbeard’s most potent attack.
Weakness: Despite being a logia type devil fruit, it does not allow Blackbeard to become intangible and avoid attacks. If he is caught off guard, Blackbeard has no way of dodging an attack. He was damaged by Ace’s devil fruit attacks, which shows it is possible to wound him.
