At the start of the sixth chapter, players will find themselves on Mount Huaguo. Along the path to the first Keeper’s Shrine, players will encounter several Celestial Soldiers of the Court, and soon after the Shrine, they will face the Supreme Inspector boss. Emerald Armed Mantis is one of the more challenging bosses in the sixth chapter, with quick movement and aggressive nature. This guide includes details on where to find the boss and strategies for beating it.

This boss fight is only accessible after the player has dealt with the remaining three bosses in Mount Huaguo and acquired three
pieces of Sun Wukong’s armor
.

How To Find Emerald Armed Mantis

From the Verdant Path Keeper’s Shrine, mount your Somersault Cloud and ride up towards the left. You will spot a single yellow tree in the middle of a water body. Head for this tree to trigger a cutscene with Black Myth: Wukong‘s Zhu Bajie. After the cutscene, you will find yourself inside the belly of Zhu Bajie, where the fight with the Emerald Armed Mantis will commence.

If the players have not collected the other three mythical armor pieces, then the cutscene will not trigger, and they can only interact with the Mantis-Catching Swamp Keeper’s Shrine here.

How To Beat Emerald Armed Mantis In Black Myth: Wukong

The boss’s arena is filled with blood and water. This does not affect the combat, but you can take advantage of it by equipping the Serpentscale Armor Set if you have upgraded it to at least Legendary. Its three-piece set bonus allows you to recover Stamina faster when in water. In addition, there is also a unique effect that slowly recovers your health whenever you are low on health, which is enhanced in water. If you would rather not use the Serpentscale Battlerobe , you can equip the Yaksha Armor Set for the 25% bonus damage.

The Emerald Armed Mantis, in its first phase, has basic attacks such as Arm Slashes and Leaping Arm Strike. The boss has three to four-hit combos that have little time between the attacks, so dodging should be your only priority. The Mantis can close the gap quickly, so be on your toes even when you are far from it. After taking out 30% of its health, a cutscene will trigger where the Mantis will cover its arms in blood.

Phase 2

In the second phase, the boss starts using different attacks, most of which involve the boss rotating around, trying to slash you with both of its arms. The combos are pretty long, and it is best not to attack during the whole sequence, as you barely get time to dodge. If you stay behind the boss to deal damage, it will use its tail to slam you, knocking you down. At around 30-40% health, the Mantis will let out a roar followed by a flurry of attacks that leave an afterimage. These afterimages can cause distraction on top of that already dim-lit boss arena.

The Wandering Wight Spirit is an excellent option for Spirit because of its high damage output at max cultivation and the defensive bonus it gives on equipping it.
