Xiaomi has been steadily carving out a large chunk of the gaming monitor market for itself and continues to offer some seriously high-quality products at rather low price points, making them the perfect entry point for players looking to upgrade or accent their gaming PC. We recently had the opportunity to review the 34-inch curved Xiaomi G34WQi, and found a fantastic entry-level gaming monitor with some seriously impressive specs that won’t break the bank for those who want an Ultrawide WQHD option. But players that are opting for a smaller, flatscreen option have a lot of great Xiaomi gaming monitors to choose from, including three new variants that are available this September 2024.

We were able to take one of them for a spin, the Xiaomi Mini LED Gaming Monitor G Pro 27i. But how does this particular monitor stack up compared to others on the market? Right out of the box, the Xiaomi G Pro 27i looks and feels a bit different than the company’s other gaming monitors. For one, the telescoping base has a unique stamped lettering on it, signifying it’s the G Pro 27i model, and there’s a nifty port hole near the base of the stand that users can route the appropriate cords through to help keep their desk tidy. The base attaches easily to the stand via four small screws (that can be affixed with an included screwdriver. It’s easy to line up the holes when mounting the base to the stand thanks to some special metal rods that slot into a special place on the base to ensure that everything stays perfectly aligned.

The base and stand themselves are very durable, made of a high-quality metal that feels heavy and sturdy without being too weighty to move or maneuver. Attaching the monitor itself to the stand is incredibly easy thanks to the simple clipping design which has guided metal tabs that slot into the top of the mounting hole on the back and then “snap” into place with a satisfying click. It’s very easy to remove the monitor itself as well, with a push-button tab on the bottom of the circular stand that allows the monitor face to easily pop back off.

Once put together, the G Pro 27i feels sturdy and durable, and it’s easy to carry and move around thanks to its form factor 27-inch design. It also features a detailed back panel, molded with a white finish and an easy-to-access button that will allow users to effortlessly change important things like Brightness, Contrast, ports, and more. There is also an illuminated ring around the monitor panel, where it connects to the base, that will let users know if the monitor is currently receiving power.

The monitor features a thin bezel front panel that allows it to blend seamlessly with multiple monitor setups and its detailed-yet-simplistic base and back panel give it a unique and modern design that helps it stand out in the sea of gaming monitors available on the market.

The Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini LED Gaming Monitor packs a serious punch and offers high-end visuals at an affordable price point. Internally, the G Pro 27i features a 27-inch 2560 x 1440 WQHD resolution screen that comes with advanced Mini LED technology, boasting 1152 zones and 4608 beads. Paired with Quantum dots and HDR1000, the end result delivers an incredibly immersive and realistic gaming experience that will expertly highlight all of the action on screen and help draw out the vibrant colors and highs and lows of any video game players load up. The monitor also features an impressive brightness scale with a peak brightness of 1000 nits and a low-end of 0.001 nits, helping draw out deep blacks, making it exceptional for darker games.

Players will also get a 1ms response time with the Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini LED Gaming Monitor, as well as an impressive 180Hz refresh rate. These stats promise to deliver a smooth and fluid experience and we tested them across a variety of games. The newest installment in the Warhammer 40k series, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, looked exceptional on the G Pro 27i, and we were able to fine-tune the brightness to create some truly atmospheric gaming that made the brighter levels look vibrant and the darker levels seem much more foreboding. The colorful world of Gundam Breaker 4 also looked incredibly crisp thanks to the Mini LED technology. We even tried some older, more simplistic releases with Stardew Valley and Minecraft. Both of these games looked excellent on the Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini LED and it seemed to have more vibrant colors that stood out better than our other monitors. The ability to fine-tune the brightness was a blessing and we found ourselves fiddling with changing the brightness between games to create a better overall experience. This was super simple to do on the fly thanks to the easy-to-access button near the bottom of the back panel of the monitor.

Overall, the Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini LED Gaming Monitor is a fantastic additional to Xiaomi’s already robust lineup and is one of the most vibrant, sleek, and well-crafted monitors we’ve seen at the $329.99 price point.
