The Grand Festival Splatfest for Splatoon 3 has concluded, with Team Past, represented by the idol duo of the Squid Sisters, having emerged victorious. Splatfests are periodic events that take place in Splatoon 3, where players are asked about a certain topic and what is considered most important to them. The topics usually vary, with players then battling it out in turf wars to determine which is superior. However, the Grand Festival Splatfest is one of the most important in terms of new content, as it is possibly the last being held.

Fans were preparing for what is believed to be Splatoon 3‘s final Splatfest, aptly called the Grand Festival. Not only were players given the opportunity to participate in one of Splatoon 3‘s biggest Salmon Run events of all time, but all three idol groups from past games – the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and Deep Cut – were all participating in the Splatfest, representing the three different teams: Squid Sisters for Team Past, Off the Hook for Team Present, and Deep Cut for Team Future. The Grand Festival Splatfest ran from September 12-15, a much longer Splatfest than prior ones. The results have all been tallied, and the winners have been announced.

The results were revealed both in-game and on the official Splatoon Twitter account, revealing that Team Past won the whole thing. Breaking it down, Team Present had won the Sneak Peek results with 33.93% over Team Past’s 33.42%, earning 90 points for the former and 45 points for the latter. Team Present won the majority vote (57.36%), giving it 70 points. The total clout, however, was where things shifted immediately, as Team Past ended up getting the most in the Open, Pro, and Tricolor Battle modes. Team Past and the Squid Sisters duo of Callie and Marie won the Grand Festival with a total of 500 points.

Team Past and Squid Sisters Win Splatoon 3’s Grand Festival Splatfest

  • First Place: Team Past + Squid Sisters with 500 points
  • Second Place: Team Present + Off the Hook with 370 points
  • Third Place: Team Future + Deep Cut with 0 points

The announcement on Nintendo’s accounts was also accompanied by a video of Deep Cut performing one last song in the middle of the big stage on the Grand Festival grounds. The video also does a complete retrospective of Splatoon 3‘s past Splatfest themes and results, making it a very nostalgic trip for those who have been playing the game for the past two years.

With the conclusion of the Grand Festival Splatfest, it’s likely its results will influence the setting of Splatoon 4 in some way, as both Splatoon 2 and 3 helped determine the direction of their successors. Despite the Grand Festival being advertised as the “last” Splatfest and regular updates now being over, Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will be back with returning themes. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being as well.
