Rumor: Fortnite to Receive Unexpected Horror Crossover

Fortnite leakers and data miners have uncovered details surrounding a potential collaboration with the popular horror franchise, Saw. Following the release of a new update on September 17, Fortnite data miners began sifting through the various new files added to the game with v31.20 and quickly discovered a potential teaser for the next Fortnitemares event.

Ever since the inception of Fortnite‘s hugely popular Battle Royale mode in 2017, Epic Games has collaborated with numerous other video games, musicians, movie franchises, and more to bring players a plethora of in-game cosmetic items and rewards. The most recent collaboration arrived with Fortnite‘s Chapter 5 Season 4 update as Marvel once again took over the island with new locations, skins, and a superhero-themed Battle Pass for players to work their way through.

Despite being a family-friendly game, Fortnite already has plenty of creepy skins for players to purchase. But it looks like even more horror-themed cosmetic items could be on the way as Fortnite data miner Xgamer360 has uncovered in-game files that make reference to Lionsgate’s massively popular horror franchise, Saw. It’s not clear exactly when the collaboration will be released, but various data miners speculate that the files were added in preparation for the upcoming Fortnitemares event in October.

Fortnite x Saw Collaboration Leaked

Shortly after the latest Fortnite update was released, data miners discovered a texture of Billy the Puppet, an iconic doll that was used by Jigsaw in the Saw franchise. Although the files themselves do not indicate what the texture is for or when it will be released in-game, prominent leakers such as ShiinaBR suggested that the collaboration will be released alongside a new Fortnitemares event.

The last Fortnite Halloween-themed event to release, known as Fortnitemares 2023, added some iconic characters from video games such as Alan Wake and movie franchises like Halloween. Although Epic Games is yet to confirm a new Fortnitemares event for 2024, there’s a strong chance that the update will follow a similar schedule to previous years and be released in mid-October. As the event often includes a plethora of new challenges and skins, fans can likely expect plenty of spooky surprises from Fortnitemares 2024.

Although there are still a few weeks to go until players can get their hands on any Halloween-themed cosmetic items, Fortnite‘s v31.20 update was released on September 17 with even more Marvel content. From a new limited-time mode known as Day of Doom to a brand-new Iron Man skin, the latest update continues the theme of Chapter 5 Season 4 with plenty of fresh content.
