How to Complete A Sailor’s Letter Exploration Codex

“A Sailor’s Letter” is automatically added to the player’s list of objectives upon entering the level 4-7 zone, Windmill Shores. It begins by tasking players to find a letter in a bottle by the Cursed Scar landmark to the southeast of the area’s waypoint. The objective on the ground can be easy to miss, but players can make the game highlight the bottle by clicking the star icon next to the quest description to bookmark it.

The quest will then direct players to an island off the southeast shore. While the quest instructions direct players to take a boat back in Kastleton Port, it’s faster to simply swim to the island. Whichever option players choose, the quest objective will change upon reaching the island, tasking players with reading a new letter found at the island’s summit. An easy way to accomplish this is to head to the eastern side of the island to find a set of easily climbable rocks leading to a string of pitons that players can use their grappling hook on. Reading the letter at the top of the island will reward players with the Russet Lutrang morph.

Players only interested in the Russet Lutrang can safely ignore the rest of the quest. However, there’s only one objective remaining, so its recommended to finish the last quick objective to get a free shapeshifting morph.

The final step of the quest directs players to a small landmass stranded in the sea, only a short swimming distance away from the letter. Manually swimming to the objective will lead players to a shipwrecked treasure chest, completing “A Sailor’s Letter” and rewarding players with the Chestacean morph.

A Sailor’s Letter Exploration Codex Rewards

Completion of “A Sailor’s Letter” rewards players with two shapeshifting forms, the swimming morph, the Russet Lutrang, as well as the special shapeshift morph, the Chestacean. The Russet Lutrang is rewarded upon finding the letter atop the island’s peak, while the Chestacean requires players to complete the entire quest and open the shipwrecked treasure chest. Players only interested in the swimming morph can safely ignore the remainder of the quest after reading the letter, but the remaining objective is quick enough to complete, so it’s recommended to simply swim to the island to grab an extra shapeshifting morph for free.
