  • Speculation suggests the shotgun received a sneaky buff in Season 6 to push players to Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players are calling for the Reclaimer 18 shotgun to receive a substantial nerf after fans say it has “ruined the game.” While the Reclaimer 18 was added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 back in Season 4, it wasn’t until the JAK Devastators aftermarket part was added in Season 5 that the shotgun became a real problem, bringing a potential new meta into the mix.

On June 26, Sledgehammer Games deployed the Season 4 Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. The massive content update not only brought with it new modes and maps but also the Reclaimer 18 shotgun. While the weapon was a viable choice for close-range engagements, it wasn’t until the release of a new aftermarket part known as the JAK Devastators in Season 5 that the shotgun became incredibly overpowered. The attachment, which turned the Reclaimer 18 into a devastating Akimbo shotgun build, would go on to be nerfed, but it looks like a sneaky buff has made the weapon the new meta once again.

A new global launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is released, giving fans a closer look at new details about the upcoming FPS.

Over on Reddit, fans are calling for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s Reclaimer 18 shotgun to receive a substantial nerf as many claim it has “ruined the game.” Although many are blasting the actual weapon, it is likely that the community would like to see the JAK Devestators nerfed as this is the attachment that turns the weapon into an Akimbo build. However, the community is now speculating that the JAK Devastators were silently buffed with the Season 6 update and that Sledgehammer Games is attempting to “ruin the game” in order to get players to move to Black Ops 6 on October 25.

Modern Warfare 3 Players Call for Reclaimer 18 Nerf

Sledgehammer made a plethora of weapon adjustments in Modern Warfare 3‘s Season 6 update on September 18, but no mention of a Reclaimer 18 or JAK Devastators buff was mentioned in the patch notes. While there was an adjustment to the JAK Devastators in Modern Warfare 3‘s Zombies mode, no changes were made to the aftermarket part or weapon in multiplayer.

While the Reclaimer 18 doesn’t deal a great amount of damage at medium to long range, fans did notice that its fire rate was substantially improved with Season 6, leading many to believe that this was done intentionally. Reddit user Chickenlawsuit said that the final season of each Call of Duty game always adds an overpowered weapon. “They never fix it,” the user went on to say. “I believe the intention is to ruin the game so you buy the next one.” Other users chimed in to note that the DTIR 30-06 is also still overpowered in both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, despite multiple nerfs since its release.

Other users, such as UpbeatRaspberry9828, said that Shipment is “unplayable” due to the large number of players that are using the Reclaimer 18 with the JAK Devastators conversion kit. Reddit user Green_lemons04 agreed, saying that they encounter “at least one or two” players with the Reclaimer 18 and Riot Shield during every Shipment match.
