Key Takeaways

  • A leaker has revealed that Microsoft may be planning to release an upgraded Xbox wireless headset on November 5.
  • The enhanced Xbox headset maintains design and functionality with no major performance upgrades.

Recent leaks suggest that Microsoft will release a new gaming headset for Xbox consoles later this month. This upgraded version of Microsoft’s official wireless headset for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S comes with differences compared to previous models, giving Xbox fans a new piece of hardware to look forward to while waiting for the official release of Microsoft’s mid-generation console.

Microsoft released its first wireless headset dedicated to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles back in March 2021. This official headset turned out to be one of the best gaming headsets for Xbox in 2024 thanks to its high-end audio performance, Dolby Atmos support, a comfortable ergonomic design, and up to 15 hours of battery life. A wired stereo version of this headset was launched in September 2021 with a price tag of 59.99$, with the wireless version at $99.99. While a limited edition of this headset was launched upon the release of Starfield, there were no new major upgrades to Xbox’s official headset since its release three years ago.

According to Dealabs’ billbil-kun, an industry insider who has accurately leaked the releases of gaming hardware in the past, Microsoft will soon announce a new wireless headset for Xbox consoles. It will be an updated version of the hardware from 2021, though with no major performance improvements, says the leaker. The peripheral will only come in a black version, despite a white Xbox Series X being slated for release on October 15. While this update to Xbox’s gaming headset retains much of the same design and functionality, its price tag will increase to $109.99 from $99.99. Microsoft’s overhauled Xbox headset is expected to release on October 22 in Europe and November 5 in North America.

New Xbox Wireless Gaming Headset Leaked

On top of this new Xbox wireless headset, Dealabs’ billbil-kun previously leaked the release of the Ghost Cipher Special Edition controller for Xbox Series, which came out on October 10. This controller features a transparent design revealing the metallic internal parts of the controller, with a bronze D-pad and triggers. The Ghost Cipher Special Edition can connect to Xbox consoles, PC, or even Android and iOS mobiles.

Besides this new Xbox gaming headset and controller, Microsoft has long been rumored to be working on a handheld Xbox console, as well as a new traditional home console. While the exact specifications of both these consoles remain under wraps, reports have pointed to the next-generation Xbox consoles releasing in 2026.
