Impressive Genshin Impact Concept Swaps Hu Tao With Boo Tao

An interesting Genshin Impact concept swaps the designs of fan-favorite Hu Tao and her loyal ghostly companion, better known as Boo Tao in the community. Genshin Impact fans are known for creating various types of fan art that often combine playable characters with elements from other franchises.

Since Genshin Impact was released back in 2020, the main focus of each update has been on its playable characters, which makes sense given that the game’s Limited Character Banner is HoYoverse’s main source of revenue. Nowadays, every new update features at least four limited five-star characters spread over two banner cycles.

Phase 2 of Genshin Impact update 5.1 has introduced a double banner featuring the long-awaited Hu Tao, also known as the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor in Liyue. In celebration, a Reddit user named grandaloe created an interesting concept that swaps Hu Tao with her Boo Tao. The fan art portrays Boo Tao as a playable character and turns Hu Tao into a ghost. The post garnered significant attention in the community, reaching over 15k upvotes on Genshin Impact‘s main subreddit. Many commenters praised grandaloe’s attention to detail and their success in turning the angry ghost into a human. Some even claimed they wouldn’t mind seeing this version of Boo Tao added to the playable roster.

The image shows Boo Tao in a white outfit resembling her ghostly appearance and depicts her as though she has just escaped a coffin. A couple of fans also praised the way the artist managed to portray Hu Tao’s cheerful personality in her ghost form. Redditor grandaloe is known in the community for creating similar projects featuring multiple Genshin Impact characters and their pets.

Despite being released back in 2021, Hu Tao remains the favorite Pyro user in Genshin Impact for many players. She has a unique playstyle that can take some time to master, involving multiple animation cancel mechanics required to maximize her DPS potential. Even though she’s still considered an S-tier character, Hu Tao might become even more powerful in the future, as leaks suggest that Genshin Impact could soon introduce new elemental reaction changes.

Players who want to add Hu Tao to their roster have a couple of weeks to do so, as her banner is scheduled to expire around November 19. She shares this banner cycle with the popular Sumeru Archon Nahida, who is considered by many to be the most powerful Dendro user in Genshin Impact.
