Key Takeaways
- Beerus wields the destructive Hakai ability, erasing targets from existence effortlessly.
- Beerus utilizes the Cataclysmic Orb attack with minimal effort, an attack with the ability to obliterate anything it touches.
- The Sphere of Destruction is Beerus’s most powerful attack, showcasing his immense destructive power.
Of all the characters introduced in Dragon Ball over the years, Beerus is easily among the most powerful of them. As a God of Destruction tasked with eliminating any stagnation from his universe that hinders its development, Beerus is strong enough to obliterate entire planets with minimal effort. However, he is incredibly lazy and never takes his job seriously, always preferring to sleep or eat instead of performing his duties.
Despite this, Beerus has some of the most impressive feats of power that have ever been shown in Dragon Ball. His awesome strength has never been shown even close to its maximum capacity, even though he has proven himself to likely be the strongest Destroyer God across the multiverse. So, let’s take a look at Beerus’ destructive move set and see why it makes him such a powerful character.

God of Destruction Beerus Saga |
The basic requirement of becoming the God of Destruction for one’s universe is unmatched strength that will let them wield the Energy of Destruction, or as it’s more commonly known, Hakai. This ability is destruction incarnate and is most notably used by the Destroyer Gods as their primary ability that lets them carry out their duties. This power gives the user the ability to destroy anything and everything, no matter what it is, be it entire planets, tiny rocks, or even intangible things like souls.
Ghost or not, there’s nothing that Lord Beerus can’t destroy.
Beerus has displayed a control over this power like no one else, as he was shown to destroy half of a planet by a simple tap of the finger. Moreover, on top of destroying a planet with his Hakai, Beerus also tapped the shell of an egg to vaporize it into nothingness, not only showing how deadly this ability is by letting the user destroy anything they want with virtually no effort, but also showcasing Beerus’s control over such a power. The target of Hakai is simply erased from all facets of existence as it doesn’t even go to the Other World after disintegration.
The Cataclysmic Orb
An Unassuming But Incredibly Powerful Attack
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods |
---|---|
Story Arc |
God of Destruction Beerus Saga |
Yet another powerful move of Beerus formed from his Energy of Destruction, the Cataclysmic Orb is an attack that Beerus uses with seemingly minimal effort or drain. It’s formed by Beerus initially bringing his hands together to form a little ball of destructive energy and then keeping it at the tip of his index finger. This attack is surrounded by constantly whirling energy which gives it the appearance of an atom that’s strong enough to obliterate whatever it touches.
I’m a deity. What’s more important; one backwater world or a battle of Gods? It’s not even a question.
This is likely Beerus’ most used ability and one that he can touch and control freely, as was seen with how he was juggling it like it was a soccer ball. If the Cataclysmic Orb touches anything, it effortlessly obliterates it, so the only way of holding it back is by keeping it at a distance by using one’s most powerful Ki attacks. Beerus threatened to destroy Earth by dropping it into the planet’s stratosphere, and he also produces these when he sneezes.

Sphere Of Destruction
Beerus’s Strongest Ki Attack Currently
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods |

Story Arc |
God of Destruction Beerus Saga |
The Sphere of Destruction is likely the most powerful attack in Beerus’s entire arsenal, at least from what fans know of it now. Unlike his regular attacks, this one doesn’t seem to be infused with the purple hues of the Energy of Destruction, so many think that this is just a product made purely of Beerus’s own Ki which is incredibly destructive without the need for any power derived from Hakai.
It’s a blast attack from Beerus! This is not good!
However, it very likely could have the Energy of Destruction but just not show it. By assuming a stance similar to Goku while he’s creating his Spirit Bomb, Beerus raises his hand to make a massive golden orb that resembles the fiery visage of the Sun, showing just how mighty this character truly is. Beerus also strengthens this attack with yet another beam of energy that he shoots out to reinforce the sphere, which is so strong that Goku had to use every bit of his power just to stop it.
The Ultra Ego State
The Natural State of Destroyer Gods
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 74, “Vegeta vs. Granolah” |
---|---|
Story Arc |
Granolah the Survivor Arc |
Ultra Instinct had been the standard for Vegeta to achieve after he failed to do so in the Tournament of Power and fans were always waiting for this to happen. However, he states that he will find his own way to power, which Beerus helped him to do with Ultra Ego, stating that becoming tranquil and calm to use Ultra Instinct went against the nature of the Gods of Destruction, so they had their own technique that suited their strengths.
Ultra Instinct ain’t the only technique of the Gods. That’s just the Angel’s specialty. Or did ya really think us Gods of Destruction would run around using a move where you gotta keep your heart all calm and tranquil?
Although Ultra Ego is used as a transformation by Vegeta similar to Goku with his Ultra Instinct, it is actually a technique that the Destroyer Gods use passively all the time. The power of this technique comes from taking damage rather than dodging it to make themselves stronger, so their next attack does far more damage. This technique prioritizes brute strength and sheer offensive output.

The Ultra Instinct Sign State
Beerus Can Partially Use the Angel’s Technique
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 39, “Sign of Son Goku’s Awakening” |

Story Arc |
Tournament of Power Arc |
The Divine Technique of Ultra Instinct remains perhaps the most coveted technique across the entire Dragon Ball multiverse. This is because it is the technique native to the most powerful race of them all; the Angels, and though it can be learned by anyone, it is so difficult to master that none of the Gods of Destruction are able to use it to its fullest extent, with Goku being the only non-Angel to perfect the technique.
Look at that brilliant form! There can be no doubt! This is the true power, complete in all its majesty. This is, Autonomous Ultra Instinct!
However, Beerus sets himself apart from his Destroyer God contemporaries as being the only one who has been shown to use Ultra Instinct Sign, which is essentially a less potent version of the technique complete with the defensive aspects but lacking sufficient offense. This was seen in the brief battle between the Destroyers that took place before the Tournament as an exhibition match to test the stage. Here, all Destroyers began by piling on Beerus together, but Universe 7’s Destroyer was powerful and skillful enough to take them all on at once, utilizing Ultra Instinct Sign, his brilliant tactical mind, and his destructive powers to do so.
