Warning: Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 player noticed a flaw in one of the most emotional scenes in the game. Despite the error, the latest entry in Insomniac’s Spider-Man franchise has been critically acclaimed for its immersive gameplay, and how the characters are portrayed. The sequel also offers the option to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
The Spider-Man games allow players to swing around New York City fighting bad guys and helping citizens in various missions. They can also meet NPCs with interesting stories along the way, like John Howard. First appearing in 2018’s Spider-Man, Howard is known for taking care of a flock of pigeons that his late wife left behind. Players can also encounter this eccentric fellow in Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Player Spots ‘Supervillain’ When Walking Around NYC
A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fan takes a break from swinging through New York City only to stumble upon a civilian that looks a lot like a teased villain.
In Spider-Man 2‘s “Howard” side mission, Howard sends in a request to find a new home for his pigeons in Queens, so they can be free to fly on to new adventures. After accomplishing the mission and returning to Howard’s location, players will discover an ambulance with Howard in it, with paramedics saying that he passed away peacefully. However, Reddit user Aglisito pointed out that Howard’s body isn’t in the ambulance, even sharing zoomed-in photos to prove that the vehicle is empty.
It’s unknown whether this is a glitch or if Insomniac just didn’t want to show players Howard’s lifeless body during this emotional side mission. It didn’t seem to bother many Spider-Man 2 fans, as they started to make light of this flaw. They jokingly said that Howard was “reduced to shreds,” in reference to an iconic Futurama scene. Others said that the pigeons probably took him with them and flew far away.
Spider-Man 2 has many emotional moments, from Peter Parker remembering his late Aunt May to Harry Osborn nearly dying at the end. But many players have touted the final Howard side mission as the saddest in the game, probably because they’ve grown fond of Howard and his pigeons, as he’s been around since the first Spider-Man game. It’s the same virtual bond people have with the adorable Spider-Cat, who also appears in the sequel.
Following the success of Spider-Man 2, fans of the franchise are already anticipating a third game. Although there’s still no concrete information on it, there are already theories surrounding the villains that might show up in Spider-Man 3. There’s still a lot of time before the next game comes out, and fortunately, Insomniac is expected to release a Wolverine game in the near future.
