Like most modern entries to the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has featured a wide range of post-launch content through its many in-game seasons, which give the spotlight to new maps, game modes, weapons, and characters. This fairly new approach for the IP has seen an interesting blend of single-player and multiplayer content, with many of the characters from CoD campaigns now being tied to an overarching multiplayer narrative.

New multiplayer seasons often focus on a select handful of franchise characters, both new and old, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been no different. MW3 is currently deep in the throes of its fifth in-game season, with it being quite likely that the game will only feature one more season before post-launch support completely ends for the title. While it is an exciting prospect to look toward the upcoming release of Black Ops 6, there is one key character from the Modern Warfare reboot that has seemingly been neglected throughout MW3: Alejandro Vargas.

Call of Duty fans want to know why an iconic multiplayer map no longer exists in many of Modern Warfare 3’s most popular playlists.

Alejandro Deserved More Attention in Modern Warfare 3

Alejandro Vargas was introduced to the Modern Warfare reboot with 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, featuring as a major supporting character in the game’s campaign. While it is true that the Modern Warfare reboot received a lot of criticism for its reliance on pre-established characters and plot points, Alejandro was an entirely fresh character to the CoD franchise and is one that fans immediately warmed to throughout the singleplayer narrative of MW2.

Alejandro is the head of Los Vaqueros, an elite unit of the Mexican Special Forces who fight alongside the iconic Task Force 141 against the cartel’s involvement in international terrorism and weapons sales. Fans fell in love with the chaotic but loyal and efficient nature of Alejandro as an ally of TF141, with the elite operator predictably being added to MW2 and Warzone as a playable multiplayer character.

Alejandro was the recipient of a lot of post-launch content in the way of operator skins throughout the life of Modern Warfare 2, but the character’s involvement in MW3 has been extremely lacking. Some fans were upset at the complete lack of Alejandro’s involvement in the campaign of Modern Warfare 3, for example, although it is worth noting that the game’s story largely takes place far away from Mexico.

Season 5 of MW3 is a Missed Opportunity For Alejandro Content

While it is justifiable for Alejandro to not make an appearance in MW3‘s story, the character has also been largely absent from the title’s multiplayer, having only received one single operator cosmetic throughout the entire life-cycle of MW3. Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3 even has a focus on the characters of Modern Warfare 2, with the MW2 villain Valeria being a major focus of Season 5 content.

Alejandro would have been a perfect fit for a renewed lease of life in Season 5, but sadly, the character is nowhere to be found. It seems unlikely that Alejandro will be the main focus of MW3‘s Season 6, which is probably going to be the final in-game season for the title, meaning that the window of opportunity for an Alejandro comeback might have been missed. It is a shame that Alejandro has not had a moment in the spotlight for MW3, especially seeing how most of the other major characters from MW2 have received some sort of content, and this may never happen now that the franchise’s attention is shifting to Black Ops 6.
