The Apple Watch Series 9 is an iterative update over the previous model called the Series 8. It brings something new in the form of a double tap gesture.
The Apple Watch Series 9 looks identical to the Series 8 it replaces and even the Series 7 for that matter. The design hasn’t changed, but Apple claims it has used recycled materials, making it a carbon neutral product when one chooses the right case and strap options.
There’s more onboard storage this year. Fitness tracking is quite solid, but health tracking has improved over last year’s model. Sleep tracking is also quite accurate. SpO2 tracking accuracy has improved but it’s still not consistent. The usefulness of the new double tap gesture is also questionable.
Battery life and charging remain the same as last year’s model, and the same goes for durability. Apple now also allows one to track their mental health using the watch which can be useful for some, but this feature will also arrive on older models.
