ASKA: How to Grow Crops

As your settlement in ASKA grows, so do its food requirements. That’s where managing food and resources becomes increasingly complex and depending solely on gathering food from the surroundings won’t be of much help. To deal with this problem, you can grow crops on your farm to ensure a steady food supply. If you are interested in knowing how to cultivate crops in ASKA, this article contains all the information that you need.

How to Grow Crops

Farming is one of the primary food gathering skills that allows you to cultivate plants within your village. However, you will have to construct a farm initially in order to plant crops. Additionally, there are a few more prerequisites that must be fulfilled before constructing a farm, as follows:

• Constructing a Campfire
• Constructing a Shelter
• Constructing The Eye of Odin
• Constructing a Stonecutter’s Pit
• Constructing a Woodcutter’s Pit
• Constructing a Workshop Pit
• Constructing a Gatherer’s Pit
• Upgrading the Gatherer’s Pit to a Gatherer’s Hut

Once you are done with these structures, you can proceed to building the farm. After the farm is built, approach it and open the menu. From there, select the Add-Ons option to add a Farm Crop field. Each field will cost you one Stick and one Rope. You can get Sticks by chopping down small bushes. To craft Rope, you will need two Fibers.

You can place up to three fields on your farm, and each field accommodates 16 crop spaces. Thus, a single farm will give you a total of 48 crop spaces. Moreover, you can grow different crops in each field, which depends on the seeds you have.

How to Assign Villagers to the Farm

Even though you can take care of farming on your own, you can also make the process a little easier by assigning villagers to the farm. They will then engage in all the farming related activities like tiling soil, sowing seeds and even watering your crops. Simply choose and assign villagers to the farm through the Farm menu, and ensure they are equipped with Rakes.

You can use your spoiled food as compost to increase your crops’ growth.

How to Get and Use Seeds

To grow any plant in ASKA, you need its respective seed. Fortunately, this process is straightforward. Look for plants in the forest and either consume or harvest them to obtain their seeds. For edible items, consume the item first to get the seed. For non-edible plants like Flax, simply harvest the plant to collect its seeds.

Once you have the seeds, you can plant them on your farm. However, every seed grows in specific seasons. So it is important to be mindful of each plant’s seasonality to ensure continuous food production.
