10 Most Beginner Friendly Classes In Baldur’s Gate 3

Some of the easiest classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 will help players new to the series and genre have a leg up in the world.

One of the awesome ways Larian achieved this is by giving players access to a vast range of different items for their parties to use, including a fantastic array of magic rings, each with its unique effects. Here are the best rings to use for rogue vampire spawn, Astarion.

1 Ring Of Shadows

Grants Astarion A Boost To Stealth

Baldur's Gate 3 Oliver

  • What it does: Wearer can cast Pass Without Trace once per Long Rest
  • Where to find: Act 2 in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, can be received as a reward for playing hide-and-seek with Oliver, or pickpocketed from him

The Ring of Shadows gives Astarion a free cast of the spell, Pass Without Trace, once per Long Rest. Pass Without Trace can grant a boost to Stealth to Astarion and the rest of the party, and since the spell comes from the ring, it doesn’t cost a spell slot if Astarion is specced as an Arcane Trickster.

Players looking to pass tricky stealth checks will find that the Ring of Shadows can come in handy while Astarion is wearing it.

2 Caustic Band

Spits Acid That Can Add Up Over Time

caustic band

  • What it does: Wearer adds +2 Acid damage to weapon attacks
  • Where to find: Act 1, in the Underdark, sold by Derryth Bonecloak in the Myconid Colony

The Caustic Band is a good choice during the early game because it adds a nice +2 acid damage to every one of Astarion’s attacks, which can add up thanks to multiple attacks per turn. Because it’s available very early on in the game, during Act 1, it makes a good option during a time when players may not have access to a lot of other items.

When it comes to useful Act 1 items, players will find the Caustic Band a reliable accessory when equipped to Astarion.

3 Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands

Entering Grymforge in Baldur's Gate 3

  • What it does: Wearer can cast Invisibility once per Long Rest
  • Where to find: Looted from a dead gnome during the Grymforge section of Act 1; players will have to kill the duergar guards or pass a persuasion or deception check to be able to loot the gnomes

The Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands grants the wearer the ability to cast Invisibility once per Long Rest. A rogue Astarion gets a few options for invisibility, but it’s always nice to have a backup – and for free. As the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands is easy to find during Act 1, this ring is a good early game choice for Astarion in a range of situations.

Gale The Wizard And Tara The Tressym, A Winged Cat, Sat In A Nest

  • What it does: Wearer can cast Blink once per Long Rest
  • Where to find: Act 3, a reward for persuading or stealing it from Gale’s Tressym, Tara, on the roof of the Temple of the Open Hand (given freely if the player is Gale or if Gale is in the party)

The Ring of Blink is a great choice for any sneaky character because it lets the wearer cast the Blink spell, which turns the user invisible and puts them in a state where they cannot be attacked. For Astarion this is great news because he can use his invisibility to perform sneak attacks and use the invulnerability to avoid being taken out of the fight early.

Baldur’s Gate 3: 11 Best Rings You Can Get In Act Three, Ranked

These are the best enchanted rings to find and equip in the third and final act of Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3.

Players who make judicious use of the Ring of Blink will find Astarion’s staying power in tough fights greatly enhanced, making this an item that players shouldn’t miss.

5 Ring Of Free Action

Astarion Will Not Be Chained

Araj Oblodra from Baldur's Gate 3

  • What it does: Grants the wearer immunity to Paralysed or Restrained and allows the wear to ignore Difficult Terrain
  • Where to find: Act 2, sold by Araj Oblodra in Moonrise Towers

The Ring of Free Action is a great choice of ring for Astarion because it gives him immunity to being Paralysed or Restrained and lets him ignore the effects of Difficult Terrain. This gives him a much greater range of movement in difficult battles thanks to being able to ignore Difficult Terrain, while also letting him get out of paralysis or restraints.

Potentially a great (un)life-saver. Very useful in some of the fights in Act 3, where enemies make better and more frequent use of certain spells and abilities.

6 Smuggler’s Ring

Thievery, But Easier

The broken bridge leading to Risen Road in Baldur's Gate 3

  • What it does: Adds +2 bonus to Stealth and Sleight of Hand at a cost of -1 to Charisma
  • Where to find: Act 1, looted from a skeleton under the bridge at The Risen Road

The Smuggler’s Ring is a great ring to use for Astarion when he needs just that little bit extra for his Stealth and Sleight of Hand checks. Skill checks are a big part of Baldur’s Gate 3 and especially in Honour Mode it can be very frustrating – not to mention potentially game-ending – to fail one.

Smuggler’s Ring gives a +2 bonus to both Stealth and Sleight of Hand at the cost of a -1 to Charisma. This isn’t necessarily a ring to wear at all times but is a great choice for players looking for a boost during specific skill checks.

7 Risky Ring

It’s A Risky Strategy, But It Just Might Work

moonrise towers from act 2 of baldur's gate

  • What it does: Gives Advantage on Attack Rolls but Disadvantage on Saving Throws
  • Where to find: Sold by Araj Oblodra during Act 2 in Moonrise Towers

The Risky Ring is a rare ring that grants Advantage on Attack Rolls but Disadvantage on Saving Throws. Advantage on Attack Rolls is very nice, and especially for a rogue like Astarion, it can be very useful for getting perfect sneak attacks whenever necessary.

But as the name of the ring implies, this is a risky strategy. Still, it’s a good choice of ring for Astarion, especially for many of the game’s fights, so it’s worth picking up.

8 Band Of The Mystic Scoundrel

Great For An Arcane Trickster Astarion

Baldur's Gate 3 Circus Lucretious

  • What it does: Allows the wearer to cast illusion or enchantment spells as a bonus action after making a weapon attack
  • Where to find: Act 3, looted from a backpack in the Jungle accessed through the circus

The Band of the Mystic Scoundrel is a great ring to use on an Astarion who’s an Arcane Trickster. Band of the Mystic Scoundrel allows the wearer to cast illusion or enchantment spells as a bonus action after making a weapon attack, which is perfect for Astarion in his default subclass.

Band of the Mystic Scoundrel really lets him get the most out of his spells while still allowing him to make weapon attacks.

9 Shifting Corpus Ring

It’s A Two For One Deal

  • What it does: Allows the wearer to cast Invisibility and Blur once each per Long Rest
  • Where to find: Act 2, dropped by Flaming Fist Marcus at the Last Light Inn

The Shifting Corpus Ring is a great choice of ring for Astarion because it grants a free use of the Invisibility and Blur spells once per Long Rest. These skills are very useful for Astarion who can get a lot of mileage out of invisibility and the blur condition, which makes him harder to hit.

This is a great ring even if Astarion has his own spell slots because it allows him to conserve them for other uses.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Amulets You Can Get In Act 1, Ranked

Before players begin Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3, they should make sure to get some of the amulets available in Act 1.

It’s perfect for sneaky builds and it helps Astarion last a little longer in battle too – as well as conserving his spell slots if specced as an Arcane Trickster.

10 Killer’s Sweetheart

Astarion Can Always Make Use Of More Critical Hits

Gauntlet of Shar in BG3

  • What it does: Makes the character roll a Critical Hit on their next Attack Roll after killing a creature, once per Long Rest
  • Where to find: In Act 2 during the Gauntlet of Shar after the Self-Same Trial. Will not spawn if any character has the condition Cheater’s Folly

Killer’s Sweetheart can be a really good choice on many characters of any class, but it’s great for Astarion because critical hits are a rogue’s bread and butter. Killer’s Sweetheart makes the character roll a critical hit on their next attack roll after killing a creature, one per Long Rest. Crits are a powerful tool and Astarion can usually make good use of this ring thanks to gaining multiple attacks per turn.
