  • New seasonal events are on the horizon, including a Halloween-themed activity with free and premium pass and cosmetics.

DICE reveals plans for Battlefield 2042 once the seasonal model comes to an end, with new events, content, and rewards set to arrive over the rest of the year. Although the launch of Battlefield 2042 suffered from plenty of difficulties, the game has enjoyed a resurgence over the past couple of years as many of the big issues were eventually addressed and new content added. The game has continued to add more content and seasons well beyond what DICE’s original plan was.

In fact, the game’s continued turn around really hit a fever pitch with the arrival of Season 6: Dark Creations, as Battlefield 2042 smashed its concurrent players record on Steam originally set back in 2021. Coupled with a well-timed free to play weekend, Battlefield 2042 continued to thrive, pushing DICE to create a seventh and final season for the first-person shooter. With Season 7 now approaching its end point, DICE confirmed plans to keep new content flowing into the game, hoping to maintain that momentum into the future.

Battlefield 2042 adds voice chat moderation in the latest update to ensure a positive gaming environment free of Positive Play Charter violations.

With Battlefield 2042 Season 7 confirmed to be the final one, many fans were wondering what was next for the game or if all focus was being moved onto the next title. As it turns out, DICE isn’t quite done with Battlefield 2042 as it released a new roadmap of content coming throughout the rest of 2024. While support will continue through quality of life updates, game balance, Portal, and Friday Night Battlefield modes, DICE is also bringing back previously released events starting with Leviathan Rising, along with the rewards for players who missed them. Alongside the rotation seasonal events, DICE has plans to bring brand-new ones to the game, starting with a tease for a Halloween-themed activity complete with a free and premium pass and cosmetics.

What Are Vault Drops in Battlefield 2042?

Alongside events, DICE also revealed something called Vault Drops. According to the Battlefield Blog, these are going to be “multi-week moments” where players can unlock specific Portal content for use within the main All-Out Warfare mode. DICE has done similar things in the past by bringing Portal-only weapons into Battlefield 2042, though with Vault Drops, the studio is extending this feature to include vehicles as well. Each one will allow players to try then unlock the content permanently and offer Mastery, Attachments, and Universal skins. The plan is to start Vault Drops later in 2024, teasing a highly requested Portal vehicle finally making the jump into All-Out Warfare.

While players will no doubt be pleased about the opportunity to continue playing, fans should keep an eye on the Halloween event as DICE has already proven it knows how to create some genuinely creepy activities in Battlefield 2042. Recently, players were able to take part in Battlefield 2042‘s Dead Space crossover event, with specific free rewards and even Isaac Clarke gear that could be purchased through the in-game shop. The Outbreak mode pits 4 players against waves of enemies, not only trying to survive but hold objectives and eventually extract. It proved to be a popular addition, so the sky is the limit on what DICE could be bringing to the table with its planned Halloween-style event later this year.
