Honey Chandler has had quite the journey after she originally appeared in the first ever episode of Bosch back in 2014, as the money-hungry defense lawyer trying to bring Harry Bosch down in the courtroom. Chandler and Bosch would be sworn enemies for years, with Bosch unable to stomach why defense lawyers like Chandler would choose to defend the brutal criminals he had dedicated his career to bringing down.

As time went on, Chandler and Bosch developed a mutual respect for each other’s roles in the criminal justice system. The audience saw a softer side to Chandler, and she became an important mentor to Maddie Bosch when she came to work for her. In the final season of Bosch, Chandler was brutally gunned down by a hitman hired by Carl Rogers, and this changed the characters’ outlook forever.

In Bosch: Legacy season 1, Chandler was still working as a defense lawyer, but she was beginning to see the other side to the criminal justice system, and became angry that criminals like Rogers got away with the most heinous crimes. She took the law into her own hands with the help of Harry Bosch, who was no longer obliged to follow the law, after he left the LAPD to operate in the private sector.

In Bosch: Legacy season 2, Chandler’s disillusionment with the law continued, as she defends a man called David Foster, who had been accused of murdering a woman called Lexi Parks. She saw how the District Attorney in that case operated, with his attempts to withhold information in order to get a conviction, and her mind was made up: Honey Chandler announced she was running for the coveted role of District Attorney at the end of Bosch: Legacy season 2.

What could Chandler do if she becomes DA?

Honey Chandler raising a toast

Bosch: Legacy season 3 will see Honey Chandler launch her campaign to become DA, and there is plenty of potential for juicy storylines that could be explored with her character if she lands the top job. There is a possibility that Chandler’s run for DA could put her at odds with Bosch, as he appears to be moving further towards the dark side.

Honey Chandler has changed her outlook on the criminal justice system, so it’s likely she will try and use her potential position as District Attorney to do good for the city of Los Angeles. However, the character still possesses the desire for power, and this could lead to Chandler’s uglier side coming out again.

There is a chance that Chandler could also use her position as DA to help Harry Bosch with some of his future cases, as the pair have formed a formidable working relationship in Bosch: Legacy. However, Bosch doesn’t appear to be enthusiastic about the prospect of working with Chandler as a DA investigator, but he’s changed his mind about working with her many times before.

DA investigators mostly deliver subpoenas and drive witnesses to court. It’s not my bag.

If Chandler wins the race for the position of DA, and that is extremely likely as Chandler always wins, she is bound to use her position to take down the FBI, and Agent William Baron in particular, after his failed investigation into her and Bosch in season 2. Chandler has witnessed the corruption in law enforcement, and one of her missions could be to clean up the system, so the right people are in charge of going after the real criminals, who will eventually end up in her courtroom, with Chandler being in a position to convict them.
