Mid-Range M4 Build For Warzone
The M4 is an iconic assault rifle that’s been part of the Call of Duty series since it entered the modern era. In Modern Warfare 3, it got a little overshadowed by the plethora of other good options in its category, but that doesn’t make this gun any less powerful than it is.
Even though the M4 is a bit outdated, it can still compete with everything Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 has to offer. The following is a guide featuring two different M4 builds that greatly affect its base level performance, giving the gun the edge it needs to outperform the meta in both standard MP and Warzone game modes.

Thermobaric Grenades are capable of doing multiple jobs at once, but even so, it’s mostly gone unnoticed by Modern Warfare 3 players.
Fast CQB M4 Build For MW3 MP
- Muzzle: Wrathguard Compensator
- Barrel: Tempus Trench Pro
- Stock: JAK Cutthroat
- Underbarrel: DR-6 Handstop
- Sight (Optional): Any
- Boots: Stalker (increased strafing speed)
This is a close-quarters build designed to make the M4 a very light assault rifle. Using the setup above, you’ll get an ADS movement speed of 3.8m/s — for reference, this is faster than the ADS movement speed of a similarly-modded Chimera in MW3. It’s also faster than most unmodded SMGs. However, this does make the gun’s recoil significantly worse, limiting its accurate engagement distance to about 20 meters.
If you’d rather not use a sight, we highly recommend using the SL Razorhawk Laser Light for even faster movement speeds. If you don’t want to give away your position with a laser sight, then use either a suppressor or Overpressure rounds to flinch snipers harder.
Options for Vest, Gloves, secondary, and grenade slots are all up to player preference.
Mid-Range M4 Build For Warzone
- Muzzle: Wrathguard Compensator
- Barrel: Hightower 20″ Barrel
- Stock: Torrent SPAN-9
- Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
- Sight (Optional): Any
- Boots: Running Sneakers (Buffs Tac Sprint)
Directly contrasting the previous build is this slow but steady setup that caters more towards Warzone fans and players on medium-large MW3 MP maps like Paris. Instead of speed, this one focuses on smoothing out the M4’s erratic recoil pattern as much as possible while slightly boosting the weapon’s effective range.
The build above makes the M4 a much better weapon at holding down lanes. Thanks to its increased firing stability and recoil control, players should be able to comfortably duel with other mid-ranged favorites like the SVA 545 and the STB-556.
As far as Warzone goes, you can pair this M4 build with any perk package you prefer. It also works best with a short-ranged backup weapon that can let you outmaneuver enemies in close range. If you want an M4 build for much longer ranges, consider using the JAK Harbinger conversion kit from MW3 Season 4 that turns this gun into a .50 caliber marksman rifle.
