A new comparison video shows off what a big difference DLSS makes when enabled while playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in terms of FPS. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 doesn’t officially launch until November 10, but fans have been able to play the campaign for the past week thanks to early access. Players with capable enough graphics cards can even enjoy the game with higher framerates thanks to DLSS.

Nvidia’s proprietary DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology is an AI-powered tool that enhances image quality and improves game performance. Fans were excited to learn that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would be receiving an Nvidia game ready driver, but a new comparison video shows off just how big of a difference the technology can make.

Nvidia shared a video showcasing the bump in performance DLSS 3 can offer for PC gamers playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The tech company is boasting a 1.8X performance boost thanks to DLSS. Without DLSS 3 enabled, gamers are looking at FPS rates in the high 60s. With DLSS 3 enabled, however, players can expect anywhere from 120-150 FPS as shown by the comparison video. Frame rates are only half of the story, however. Thanks to Nvidia’s Reflex technology, the company is claiming latency can be reduced by as much as 28%. Of course, in a fast-twitch shooter like Call of Duty, every second (and millisecond) counts, especially when online.

For those curious as to the exact specs on display in the video, Nvidia used a GeForce RTX 4080 to achieve 4K Ultra/Max Settings with DLSS 3 while in performance mode. Of course, this is some high-powered technology. The n are some of the highest-performing graphics cards available. For DLSS 3, PC players are required to have an RTX 40 series GPU. DLSS 2 is also an option for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players, and that only requires an RTX 20 series or better. Of course, these are both well above Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s PC requirements for both the minimum and recommended categories.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 looks to be the biggest shooter of the fall. Early access has been a bit tumultuous thanks to an ultra-short four-hour campaign, but the game looks to have much better legs when its online multiplayer modes launch on November 10. By all accounts, gamers have enjoyed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s online beta, so fans of the franchise are excited for online multiplayer to finally be released.
