Developer CD Projekt RED is promising a new Cyberpunk 2077 update patch to coincide with next week’s Ultimate Edition, one that will supposedly bring exciting new gameplay elements. The once-troubled Cyberpunk 2077 has had one of the biggest redemption arcs in recent memory, going from a title plagued with countless bugs and glitches to a solid first-person RPG experience that was recently nominated at The Game Awards 2023 for CDPR’s ongoing efforts to address its issues and add interesting new content.
The most noteworthy of this new Cyberpunk 2077 content has been Phantom Liberty, a massive story-based expansion that reworked the game’s character upgrade system from the ground up and added a new location in the crime-ridden Dogtown district among other welcome changes. CD Projekt RED has also continued to tweak Cyberpunk 2077 through smaller update patches, with the recent Update 2.02 being released in October and addressing balancing issues with vehicle contracts and technical problems with certain side quests.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Passes Impressive Sales Milestone
CD Projekt Red provides its second-ever sales update on Phantom Liberty two months after the acclaimed Cyberpunk 2077 expansion hit the market.
This isn’t stopping anytime soon either, as CD Projekt RED just announced yet another Cyberpunk 2077 update that will launch next week. According to the announcement post on the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, Update 2.1 will be released on December 5 and include an assortment of “new and hotly anticipated gameplay elements.” The exact details of what this means will be revealed during a special Twitch livestream on December 1 at 4 PM CET (or 10 AM ET/7 AM PT), which will be hosted by CDPR Senior Community Managers Alicja Kozera and Amelia “Lilayah” Kolat.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 Release Date
This latest update will also be released on the same day as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, a re-release that will include all of the patches and updates that CPDR has put out since the game’s controversial launch back in 2020 – including the highly successful Phantom Liberty DLC. This will essentially serve as the final version of Cyberpunk 2077, much like the Game of the Year or Complete Edition re-releases that many major triple-A games release a year or so after their initial launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 has grown and evolved considerably since its initial release, as demonstrated by the vast amount of updates and extra content included in next week’s Ultimate Edition. Even more improvements and new features are set to be added with CDPR’s newly announced Update 2.1, which fans can learn more about by tuning into Twitch on December 1.
