At the core of DanMachi’s lore lies familias, a gathering of individuals and gods/goddesses who choose to either focus on exploring the dungeon and becoming stronger, or starting a trade to make money or cater to others. In their pursuit of strength, many familia’s have proven themselves as strong, but only a few may be called the strongest.

The strongest familias in DanMachi are made up of both elite adventurers and gods, whether it be in their combat abilities and dungeon exploration or sheer influence in Orario. These familias have proven themselves as capable of standing atop the hierarchy and have earned their spot one way or another, some even through usurpation.

8 Hephaestus Familia

The Forgers Of Orario

While the members of this familia forge themselves through blacksmithing, many of them also go on adventures, and so they are called Warrior Smiths. Despite being a familia centered in Orario, the Hephaestus Familia is renowned worldwide for their crafting abilities. Many of their crafted weapons are top-notch and heavily sought after by those who seem to conquer the dungeon.

Additionally, as a smith-type familia, many of their members craft incredible weapons for themselves, further making them able to display more powerful attacks than their counterparts, as seen with their level five captain, Tsubaki Collbrande, who uses a first-class naginata she created for herself.

7 Ishtar Familia

A Possessor Of Wealth And Strength

With a level-five captain and a solid foothold in the entertainment district of Orario, the Ishtar Familia was one of the most powerful familias in all of Orario, even if most of their members were prostitutes and more focused on running brothels to make money than dungeon exploration.

Despite this, the core of the Ishtar Familia had level five’s and four’s, and their wealth and influence in the entertainment district gave them a solid standing that made few dare to provoke them. Unfortunately, Freya was not among the few, and the Ishtar Familia provoked her, leading to their overnight destruction at the hands of Freya and the more skilled members of her familia.

6 Kali Familia

Very little is known about the Kali Familia; however, they can be called one of the strongest because of their gruesome training methods. As a familia outside Orario, the Kali Familia’s members face each other in a deathmatch, leveling up and becoming stronger that way. Due to this method, they have a number of level six but little to no level five’s as they’ve either leveled up to level six or died trying.

Initially, Tione and Tiona Hiryute used to be part of the Kali Familia but they eventually joined the Loki Familia. The Kali Familia is entirely made up of Amazon goddesses, women built for war, making them very effective in fighting against people. Moreover, they have two captains, and both are level six warriors.

5 Ganesha Familia

The Ganesha Familia is the largest familia in all of Orario. Their numbers aren’t just for show, as they sport over a hundred upper-tier warriors and possess eleven level-five warriors. Having the largest number of first-class warriors, the Ganesha Familia’s military might is astounding. Moreover, they serve as the Military police of Orario, maintaining law and order in the city.

As a familia, the Ganesha Familia have a plethora of adventurers that serve as tamers, using a couple of beasts to fight other monsters. Moreover, they are known to tame beasts from the dungeon, an incredibly difficult act that further speaks of their prowess. If even half of their level five’s level up, the Ganesha Familia has the capability to threaten the standing of the Freya and Loki familia.

4 Freya Familia

The Familia With An Influential Goddess And Orario’s Strongest

Right from when she came down from heaven, Freya was always enraptured by powerful adventurers with a lot of potential. She frantically charmed many and made them part of her familia, until eventually, the Freya Familia became one of the most powerful in the current-day Orario.

Running the frontlines of Orario, the Freya Familia serves as one of the most powerful and acknowledged groups in the whole of Orario. With Ottar, Orario’s publicly acknowledged strongest adventurer, their reputation is even more grounded. Aside from Ottar, the Freya Familia have many powerful adventurers, with many being level six, and their god Freya is an influential being who’s always scheming something and is ready to destroy others for her goals.

3 Loki Familia

Having A Level 7 Trio Makes Them Unrivaled

After participating in disbanding the Zeus and Hera Familias 15 years prior to the current story of DanMachi, the Loki Familia became publicly acknowledged as a powerful group. Initially, they were second only to the Freya Familia, but things changed after the Freya Familia was publicly disbanded during the Great Faction War and three of members of the Loki Familia, Finn Deimne, Riveria Ljos Alf, and Gareth Landrock, evolved to level seven.

Aside from their top three members, the Loki Familia would dominate many with their other executives, Ais Wallenstein, Tione, Tiona, and Bete, showing how far up the ladder they are. While their god, Loki, may joke around a lot, a god of mischief is never to be underestimated.

2 Zeus Familia

Unfortunately, 15 years prior to the story of DanMachi, the Zeus Familia was wiped out. However, before those 15 years ago, the Zeus Familia had ruled Orario as one of the most powerful familias for roughly 1000 thousand years, showing their might and deep legacy.

Unlike the current Orario, which has level six warriors and upcoming level seven warriors as the most powerful in the city, the Zeus Familia boasted a level eight captain with several level seven and six members. In terms of dungeon floors cleared, the Zeus Familia alongside the Hera Familia reached all the way down to the 71st floor.

1 Hera Familia

Once Home To A Legendary Level Nine Adventurer

Like the Zeus Familia, the Hera Familia dominated Orario before they were eventually defeated. In ancient times, the Hera Familia had individuals with the highest known level, as their captain was a level nine adventurer. Alongside the Zeus Familia, the Hera Familia defeated the legendary Behemoth and Leviathan, two monsters who were akin to natural disasters.

Unfortunately, they eventually got defeated by the Black Dragon and were chased away from Orario by their competition. While this familia may be now gone, now and in ancient times, they’ve served as the strongest Familia, as even the current-day adventurers of Orario have not topped their feats.
