The English version of Dark Souls Redemption, an upcoming manga set in the world of the critically acclaimed Dark Souls franchise, finally has a release date and will be launching in August. The series has received all sorts of media adaptations since its legendary first entry debuted in 2011.

Comic book author Julien Blondel’s Dark Souls Redemption tells an original, never-before-seen story that takes place in the universe of FromSoftware’s iconic RPGs. French publisher Mana Books is scheduled to release the first volume of the manga, which is classified as a shōnen, or a piece of media aimed at a young male audience, on June 6. Fortunately for non-French-speaking Dark Souls fans, an official English version of Blondel’s 216-page spin-off will also become available just a few months later.

American publisher Yen Press recently announced that its English localization of the Dark Souls Redemption manga should come out on August 27. The $15 paperback will be available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Indigo, Kinokuniya, and the Crunchyroll Store. Not a lot of information regarding Dark Souls Redemption has been disclosed, but the manga’s listing on the Yen Press website features a synopsis and several tags, including Dark and Horror. While not classified as horror games, the Dark Souls titles are filled with heartbreaking and tragic stories.

Dark Souls Redemption Manga English Release Date

Yen Press is also currently handling the English release of another manga based on a FromSoftware property. Nikiichi Tobita’s Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree follows the story of a Tarnished named Aseo as he travels across The Lands Between and encounters many of the game’s beloved characters, like Alexander, Melina, and Ranni. The surprisingly hilarious Elden Ring manga has sold more than 16.6 million copies worldwide, and its localized fourth volume will be released on October 15.

Dark Souls has been adapted into other forms of media over the years. A comic book based on the property came out in 2016 to coincide with the release of Dark Souls 3. FromSoftware’s popular series also received a licensed board game that reached its crowdfunding goals within minutes of launch. There have also been rumors of a Netflix-produced anime based on the original Dark Souls, which is considered to be one of the hardest RPGs ever made, but such a project has yet to be officially announced.

FromSoftware president and Dark Souls series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki claimed in a past interview that the franchise’s third entry would likely be its last. The Japanese Studio has focused on new properties in recent years, releasing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Elden Ring, and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Shadow of the Erdtree, the sole DLC for Elden Ring, is slated to come out on June 21.
