During the recent PlayStation State of Play, developer Mintrocket revealed Dave the Diver was coming to PlayStation consoles in April. In addition to Dave the Diver heading to PS4 and PS5, the developer unveiled Godzilla content, which should be exciting news for both fans of the game and the massive kaiju.
While 2024 has just begun, PlayStation has already started making announcements and teasing new projects. As part of the January State of Play, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was showcased, along with new looks at upcoming games like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the remake of Silent Hill 2. In addition to these major projects, the Indie hit, Dave the Diver, received several exciting announcements.
Dave the Diver Developer Reveals Next Game, and It’s Unexpected
MintRocket, the developer behind Dave the Diver, reveals one of its upcoming projects, showcasing the range of genres it’s interested in.
In a new trailer showcased during the latest State of Play, Mintrocket announced that Dave the Diver was heading to PlayStation in April. While the developer stopped short of giving a specific release date, this news means fans on PlayStation will be able to see all the game has to offer soon. In addition to a launch month on PS4 and PS5, the trailer unveiled new crossover content, revealing that Godzilla will be making his way to the pixelated world of Dave the Diver in a free DLC update. It is worth pointing out that this new content will not become available until May, and the developer has not given many details about how the enormous kaiju will feature in the game. However, fans did catch a glimpse of The King of the Monsters towards the end of the trailer, with the creature emerging from the water.

Beyond the new Godzilla content coming to the game, new DualSense features for the PS5 version were detailed in a new PlayStation Blog post. According to the developer, the game takes advantage of haptic feedback in the controller, offering a more immersive experience when fish are attached to the player’s line. Furthermore, the game’s weapons have several unique responses when pressing the DualSense’s adaptive triggers.
This news for Dave the Diver comes after the game has already been garnering positive attention among fans. Following its full release in June 2023, the game was nominated for Best Indie Game at The Game Awards 2023. While Dave the Diver ultimately lost to Cocoon, it evidenced the title’s popularity, currently having an Overwhelming Positive rating on Steam with more than 84,443 reviews at the time of writing. With so many players enjoying Dave the Diver’s intriguing blend of adventure, RPG, and management elements, time will tell if the game’s availability will eventually expand to include Xbox consoles.
