  • Destiny 2’s Final Shape offers the powerful Khvostov 7G-0X exotic auto rifle, a nostalgic and formidable primary weapon.
  • Obtaining the exotic Khvostov requires a journey through Pale Heart, collecting Lost Encryption Bits & defeating Overthrow bosses.
  • A bug affecting the Mote of Light drop from Taken Servitor boss has been fixed, allowing players to complete the exotic Khvostov quest.

The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 introduces plenty of new weapons and gear for fans to obtain, such as the Khvostov 7G-0X exotic auto rifle which can now be acquired after a bug preventing players from collecting it has been resolved. This exotic weapon in Destiny 2 harkens back to the very first gun that Guardians pick up on their journeys, with the rifle’s new incarnation making for one of the most powerful primary weapons offered in The Final Shape expansion.

Not to be confused with the Legendary-rarity Khvostov 7G-02, Destiny 2‘s new exotic Khvostov packs a full magazine of rounds capable of ricocheting between targets. Obtaining it, however, requires Guardians to go on quite the journey throughout the new Pale Heart destination introduced with The Final Shape. Players will first need to acquire the Legendary Khvostov by collecting Lost Encryption Bits hidden throughout all 6 Cysts and all 9 regional chests scattered around the Pale Heart. Once this has been done and the legendary rifle has been looted from The Divide, fans will need to kill each of the 9 final bosses encountered in Overthrow activities throughout the Pale Heart and collect 8 Visions of the Traveler before they can claim their exotic reward in the old Tower.

Destiny 2 Fans Point Out a Big Missed Opportunity With Exotic Class Items

The powerful new exotic class items in Destiny 2 carry a drawback that comes as a big disappointment for certain players.

Unfortunately, a bug discovered shortly after the release of The Final Shape meant that one of the bosses in Destiny 2‘s Overthrow activity had to be disabled, preventing Guardians from collecting one of the motes they need. This has now been resolved thanks to the boss being re-enabled in the game, meaning that players who didn’t already acquire the Mote of Light from the Taken Servitor boss in The Blooming prior to June 7th now have the means of grabbing all the motes they need to get the exotic Khvostov. Bungie has also confirmed that players who lost the Motes of Light they obtained by defeating the Taken Servitor boss due to the initial bug will need to go to orbit for the exotic mote they need to appear in their inventory.

Some Destiny 2 Players Are Still Having Trouble Obtaining the Khvostov 7G-0X

While many players have since been able to get the exotic Khvostov for themselves, many others have also reported that the re-enabled Taken Servitor boss fails to drop the last Mote of Light that they need. While it’s not yet certain whether this is another bug in itself, players who can’t get the mote to drop from this boss should try fighting other Overthrow bosses throughout Destiny 2‘s Pale Heart in case the mote they’re missing drops from a different location.

While Destiny 2‘s climactic Final Shape expansion has more than lived up to the expectations set by the community, the game has seen quite a plethora of technical and server issues since the expansion’s launch. While players may now be able to obtain the exotic Khvostov without much trouble, fans have also pointed out that various other new exotics in Destiny 2 are also bugged.
