With The Final Shape expansion launching on June 4, Bungie is trying to prepare Destiny 2 players by giving them a heads-up on all the items being removed from the game once Year 7 kicks off. After a lengthy delay, the highly anticipated Final Shape expansion is right around the corner for Destiny 2 players. Over the past couple of months, Bungie has continued to reveal new information and details about what the experience holds, including some exciting reveals like the Prismatic subclass, new exotic gear, and the return of the beloved Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6.

As with any new expansion, Destiny 2 undergoes some pretty big changes both with a new update as well as what content is available within the game. Bungie has already been preparing players in advance of the upcoming expansion, setting expectations for certain content to be removed, including Legendary Shards being sunset in Destiny 2. Most times, seasonal content and items from the previous year are removed entirely, a trend which looks to continue with The Final Shape.

To further help Destiny 2 players prepare for the expansion, Bungie has provided a comprehensive list of all the items being removed from the game on June 4. Numerous items in the list have been mentioned before, including the previously mentioned Legendary Shards as well as ritual bounties from Drifter, Shaxx, and Zavala. Mementos are also seeing a welcome change in that they are now unlocked for use on any crafted weapon after first being “consumed” by the player, though keep in mind that any Mementos dismantled prior to the expansion launch will not be added to crafted weapon inventories. Also, players can apply them from anywhere, no longer having to fly to Mars to interact with the Relic and the max stack limit is being raised from 1 to 3.

Bounty stacking has been a popular way for many players to get ahead at the launch of a new expansion, finishing a bunch and then cashing them in after the new content launches. However, Bungie has largely altered how this mechanic works with Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit bounties being removed and replaced by the Pathfinder system. However, this change isn’t the end of the road for Destiny 2 bounty prepping, as there are plenty of other vendors on other destinations which can still provide a boost. As Bungie previously revealed, Pathfinder is a new pursuit system that essentially consolidates challenges, bounties, and patrols from the director. While offering rewards, Pathfinder gives players more control over their play sessions and what they want to spend their time on.
