The Prismatic subclass for Titans in Destiny 2 combines some of the best parts of every other subclass and mashes them all together into one big, sparkly package. There’s a little bit of everything here, which may give some players trouble when it comes to buildcrafting.

The following guide is a Prismatic Titan build that focuses on survivability and massive AOE damage against overleveled combatants in difficult content, such as the Legend campaign in Destiny 2: The Final Shape. This will require full campaign completion, however, as one core part of the build is locked behind a post-story quest.

Prismatic Titan Class Setup

Aspect

Description

Knockout

Critically wounding or breaking a target’s shield increases the damage and lunge range of your next melee attack. Defeating targets with Knockout Amplifies and heals you. Defeating stronger opponents increases the heal amount.

Consecration

While sliding, activate your melee ability to launch a wave of Solar energy to damage and Scorch enemies. Press the melee ability button again to slam down, dealing more damage. If the second attack hits Scorching enemies, they will Ignite.

Fragments

Facet of Protection

Become more resistant to damage while surrounded. This effect becomes stronger while Transcendent (+10 Strength).

Facet of Courage

Arc, Solar, and Void abilities deal more damage to targets debuffed by Darkness (+10 Discipline).

Facet of Balance

Rapidly defeating targets with Light damage grants melee energy. Rapidly defeating enemies with Dark damage restores grenade energy.

Facet of Dawn

Powered melee hits make you Radiant. Powered melee final blows make you and your teammates Radiant (-10 Strength).

Facet of Purpose

Picking up an Orb of Power grants either Amplify, Restoration, Frost Armor, Wover Mail, or Overshield based on your equipped Super (-10 Recovery).

Abilities

Shackle Grenade

Throw Strand matter that damages and suspends enemies.

Frenzied Blade

Dash forward and slash at your enemies. Stores up to three charges.

For any unmentioned slot, feel free to pick whatever based on your own preference.

The launch of The Final Shape saw a major buff to Knockout. Now, this Aspect’s healing works more like Solar Cure — it can no longer get canceled by incoming damage. This means that as long as players keep killing enemies with melee hits, they’ll be practically unstoppable. When Knockout is active, it will buff Consecration’s damage and cause any kills to heal the player.

Facet of Protection and Purpose will grant enough damage resistance to keep players from getting one-shot in most situations. Every time you pick up an Orb of Power, you’ll gain four seconds of Woven Mail, and as long as you’re surrounded (which you will be since this is a melee build), you’ll have the passive damage resistance from Facet of Protection up.

Frenzied Blade is the preferred melee ability here because it has three charges, which means you get three full uses of Consecration when all charges are available. Meanwhile, Shackle Grenade is here for crowd-control and more damage resistance via Woven Mail granted by Abeyant Leap (more on this later).

This build thrives off momentum. Get in your opponent’s face, hit them with hard-hitting weapons, then finish them off with either Consecration or a Knockout-infused punch. If you’re taking too much damage, pick up an Orb of Power, punch a low-health enemy or Consecrate a group of weak targets to regain HP.

Exotic Armor Choices

Pyrogale Gauntlets for a Destiny 2 Prismatic Titan build

This build is very flexible when it comes to exotic choices. Here are some of the best Destiny 2 Titan exotics you can use:

  • Pyrogale Gauntlets: Consecration’s second slam creates flame cyclones.
  • Synthoceps: Gain increased melee damage when surrounded.
  • Abeyant Leap: Gain Woven Mail after using Shackle Grenade.
  • Heart of Inmost Light: Increase ability energy regeneration rates after using abilities.

Pyrogale Gauntlets and Synthoceps are reliable damage-boosting exotics that will help you take down those chunky yellow-bar enemies in high-level content. Meanwhile, Abeyant Leap can help you survive fights for longer by granting you Woven Mail for 10 seconds after suspending targets with Shackle Grenades or any other source. Heart of Inmost Light might not be as good as it was before, but it’s still a decent pick.

As for weapons, this build works best with a high-burst gun like a Fusion Rifle or Shotgun. These will soften targets up for your melee abilities. Also, we recommend using Tractor Cannon if you want to maximize the damage you deal with abilities. Lastly, make sure you swap your Helmet Siphon mod to match your main weapon’s element.
