Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s first paid DLC expansion, A Rift of Time, has been released, bringing an array of new content and initiating a fresh story arc in the game. This expansion allows players to explore Eternity Isle, a new region packed with quests, ingredients, materials, and more, including three unlockable characters exclusive to this expansion.

As players venture through the three new biomes of Eternity Isle, they’ll discover variations of familiar elements, including a range of materials to forage and gather with their Royal Tools. Each biome also introduces its own set of wildlife, adding three new critter companions to the game’s roster, which players can befriend.

The Glittering Dunes biome of Eternity Isle is a vast desert divided into four distinct areas where players will encounter not only the proud Gaston but also a different creature slithering across the sands: Cobras. Here’s everything players need to know about finding and befriending these new companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Updated by Usama Ali on September 28, 2024: Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Rift In Time expansion introduces players to Eternity Isle, a realm trapped in a time loop due to Jafar’s mischievous meddling. As they explore this enchanting realm, players will run into different types of critters, including Cobras. Cobras in Disney Dreamlight Valley come in several color variants. Each color variant can be found in a specific area within the Glittering Dunes, and appears at different times of the day. This guide has now been updated with the exact schedule Cobras follow, so you can approach and befriend them.

Where to Find Cobras in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Cobras, along with their unique habitat, the Glittering Dunes biome, are available exclusively to players who own Dreamlight Valley‘s A Rift In Time expansion DLC. While Cobras can be found throughout the area, they can sometimes be difficult to spot, which may necessitate clearing the biome of Splinters of Fate and other objects to make them more easily visible.

There are six different types of Cobras, each featuring a unique appearance and spawning conditions. Each variant appears only on certain days and times and within specific areas within the Glittering Dunes.

Some varieties of Cobra, for instance, the Toon Cobra, are available only after completing specific story quests and unlocking new areas of the Glittering Dunes. Cobra’s Favorite Food in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Cobras enjoying eggs in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

While players can gift any item to wild critters, each companion has a preferred food that significantly boosts their friendship level, the key to unlocking them as a companion. In Disney Dreamlight Valley, the Cobra’s favorite food is Eggs. Eggs can be purchased in unlimited quantities from the store inside Chez Remy for 220 Star Coins each. This should please both Cobras and Gaston alike.

When the player encounters a wild Cobra, it will behave similarly to the Raccoons found in The Forest of Valor. To feed a Cobra, the player will need to pursue the snake until it has noticed their presence, at which point it will turn and face the player. While the Cobra’s head is lowered, the player can approach the snake.

However, once it raises its head, the player needs to freeze in place to avoid startling the Cobra and causing it to flee. Successfully approaching the Cobra through this “Red Light, Green Light” process will allow the player to interact with it and give it its favorite food.

Befriending Cobras and Unlocking Them As Animal Companions

Unlockable companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley's A Rift in Time expansion.

To befriend Cobras and unlock them as companions, players need to feed them one tray of Eggs on days they are available. Affection can be raised with only one type of Cobra per day. Further gifts do not increase affection on the same day, nor can players raise friendship levels with more than one color of Cobra each day. Instead, players must choose a specific Cobra color each day to focus on building a friendship.
