Star Paths are a well established part of Disney Dreamlight Valley, but players are less than excited about the latest one. With Halloween just around the corner, players expected Disney Dreamlight Valley’s latest Star Path to be a bit more spooky.

Instead, fans met the announcement of a rock-themed Star Path. Many were disappointed, taking to social media to discuss the un-festive theming. However, the team behind Disney Dreamlight Valley has confirmed that the game has some Halloween events planned.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Night Show Isn’t Very Spooktacular

Star Paths essentially act asDisney Dreamlight Valley’s version of a battle pass. This mission system gives players free rewards upon completing certain side and main quests. A paid tier of the Star Path is also available, which can be purchased using Moonstones.

Rewards and theming of the Star Paths also change season by season, with the previous Star Path being themed to the game’s Dapper Delights update. Therefore, fans expected this next Star Path to at least be themed to the game’s most recent update if it was not festive. Instead of featuring The Lion King theme associated with Dreamlight Valley’s new Jungle Getaway update, players received a Star Path titled “The Night Show.”

A rock n’ roll themed Star Path with skulls and fire could be considered spooky to a smaller subsection of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s players, but it completely subverts the expectations that fans had based on previous Star Paths and game updates. A rock n’ roll themed Star Path is not an inherently bad concept, especially since this one is rumored to be a collaboration with pop culture apparel brand Loungefly, but the response this Star Path has received from fans is understandable, given the timing.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has gone the spooky route around Halloween for Star Paths previously. In 2022, the Dreamlight Valley‘s Villains’ Star Path acted as the second Star Path ever featured in the game with items like Black Cat Ears and the Well of Souls available as rewards. Gameloft and Disney Dreamlight Valley went the spooky route again for Halloween 2023, with the Haunted Holiday Star Path giving rewards like a Halloween Town Archway and a Pumpkin King Costume.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Still Has Halloween 2024 Plans

The lack of a Halloween themed Star Path could have been less of a blow to fans if Gameloft and Disney Dreamlight Valley had announced more Halloween events. Currently, only Trick-or-Treating has been confirmed for Dreamlight Valley as one of the Halloween themed events coming soon. Fans are still in the dark if more events will be taking place this season or if Trick-or-Treating is all that Disney Dreamlight Valley will offer.

In addition to Trick-or-Treating, Disney Dreamlight Valley Halloween activities of the past featured a limited-time reskin of the typical three-course-meal Dreamlight Duty. This reskin has occurred over other holidays like Christmas and Easter, so it’s likely that it will be available again this year despite the lack of confirmation from Gameloft and Dreamlight Valley’s team.

A quest where players could earn an exclusive Pumpkin Stack furniture item upon harvesting a hundred pumpkins was available last year. It would be unsurprising for a similarly themed Halloween or fall event, like collecting leaves, to pop up again this year in the wake of the Star Path controversy. Though the Star Path itself may not be spooky, Disney Dreamlight Valley has time to serve up some frights that players can enjoy. Until October 23, when Trick-or-Treating returns, fans will just have to enjoy the new Jungle Getaway update released on October 9.
