Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been one of the most anticipated games in the RPG genre. Following the success of its predecessor Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has a lot to live up to, and mounting anticipation has just added to the high bar the game has to achieve. Although there hasn’t really been much news, leaks and rumors have given some insight into what the game will hold, and The Anderfels could hold an important role when it comes to the game’s lore.

Since Dragon Age: Dreadwolf began production nearly a decade ago, developer BioWare has kept any substantial progress of the project private, and this has brought up many questions regarding what the game’s story will be about. Recent leaks of Dreadwolf have suggested that the Grey Wardens will be an essential part of the game and its overall story, and this could provide a compelling road for Dreadwolf‘s narrative to explore.

The Role of The Anderfels In Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

The Grey Wardens in DA So Far

Despite a rocky development, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is set to expand on the lore of the Dragon Age franchise, and leaked gameplay revealing that The Anderfels would play a role in the story has provided a small peek into the game. The Dragon Age franchise is rich with extensive lore, and there are many groups that thrive within Thedas.

However, one of the most fascinating groups in the game’s world is Dragon Age‘s Grey Wardens. The Grey Wardens are warriors who drink Darkspawn blood in order to defeat them and tend to use unorthodox methods and overlook an individual’s background if they deem them worthy of being able to help.

However, ingesting this Darkspawn blood also sets each warrior up for a short life. Each Grey Warden eventually hears The Calling, an effect the Darkspawn blood has that turns members of the group into ghoul-like beings. Despite this tragic fate that the Grey Wardens impose upon themselves, this group has kept Thedas safe from each Blight that has plagued the world.

The Grey Wardens In Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

The headquarters of the Grey Wardens, Weisshaupt Fortress, is located within The Anderfels. This is an important detail to make note of because the recent gameplay leaks of Dreadwolf took place within Weisshaupt Fortress. That said, to what extent the main headquarters of the Grey Wardens plays in Dreadwolf is a mystery, including the location in the game hinting at the group playing a larger role this time.

The events of
Inquisition
saw the entirety of the Grey Wardens almost become lost to The Calling, so there could be some interesting narratives following the aftermath of the near-tragedy that threatened the safety of Thedas.

As hope for Dreadwolf providing a summer update continues to grow, speculation around the game’s deeper story will persist. After nearly a decade, it will be interesting to see how BioWare chooses to continue the franchise’s story, and Dreadwolf diving deeper into the world of the Grey Wardens would be a fascinating storyline to pursue. Until more information is given about the game, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf remains one of the most anticipated upcoming RPG titles in development right now.
