Completing Fia’s questline will unlock one of several alternative endings in From Software’s Elden Ring.
Updated on July 31, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: Dragons are a bit of a rarity in Elden Ring. Players will encounter many dragons in their journey, but most of them are in the form of bosses, meaning they won’t respawn, unlike other enemies. While the Shadow of the Erdtree does increase the number of existing dragons, It’s still considered a small number. So, it’s essential to defeat each one of them to not miss out on any rewards. The Lichdragon Fortissax, for example, is a hidden boss that’s locked behind an NPC quest. Defeating it rewards a Remembrance as well as a decent number of Runes.
Where To Find Lichdragon Fortissax Secret Boss In Elden Ring
The Lichdragon Fortissax secret boss can be found in the deepest parts of Deeproot Depths in Elden Ring.
First, start Fia’s questline. After giving the broken dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead, players must travel to Nokron and beat the Valiant Gargoyle boss. A coffin will spawn at the end of the boss room. Interacting with the coffin teleports players to another hidden area, Deeproot Depths.
Upon arriving at Deeproot Depths, head west and light the Great Waterfall Crest Site of Lost Grace, summon Torrent, turn west, then:
- Sprint to the giant tree root that connects two platforms.
- Jump on the root then keep following its path until players reach the other side.
- Move northwest and activate the Deeproot Depths bonfire. A Palm Reader NPC should be sitting near a cliff.
Now, move northeast and go through a narrow pathway. This leads to a small building (which looks like an elegant garden house). Pick up the Deeproot Depths map fragment then keep moving southwest to the Nameless Eternal City Site of Lost Grace.
From there, go south through the giant archway and make sure to kill the knight, or they’ll chase endlessly. Then, head east and climb the tree roots then move forward alongside its path.
Once the root branches into two paths, take the one on the right. Walk along the path until it ends. Jump onto the broken root on the left and move forward till a Site of Lost Grace is visible underneath.
A Site of Lost Grace should be visible from above. Drop down and light the Across the Roots bonfire. Head northwest into a large open area. Fia will be inside, but before interacting with her, players will fight in Fia’s Championsboss fight in Elden Ring.
Beat them, then give her the Cursemark of Death and exhaust Fia’s dialogue. Now, reload the area and interact with the sleeping Fia to enter her dream.
Inside, tarnished will fight against the Lichdragon Fortissax. Upon beating the dragon, players will gain the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince to unlock the Age of Duskborn Ending.
Additionally, beating the dragon grants 90,000 Runes and the Remembrance of Lichdragon. This item can be used at the Roundtable Hold to buy two Incarnations: Fortissax’s Lightning Spear and Death Lightning.
How To Trigger Fia’s Quest In Elden Ring
Fia, the Deathbed Companion is one of the many NPCs encountered at the Roundtable Hold once the first Shardbearer is defeated. She can be found in a bedroom next to where Smithing Master Hewg is located. At first, Fia will only offer Baldachin’s Blessing when Tarnished allows her to hold them.
However, upon unlocking Altus Plateau or defeating General Radahn in Elden Ring, Fia’s quest will be triggered, an essential factor for Lichdragon Fortissax’s location. Head to the Deathbed Companion and hold her to talk in secret to receive the Weathered Dagger . After that, Tarnished must give it to D, Hunter of the Dead which completes the first step of Fia’s questline in Elden Ring.

How To Get The Cursemark Of Death In Elden Ring
The Cursemark of Death is a key item given to Fia to advance in her quest and fight the Lichdragon Fortissax. Acquiring said item is no easy feat as players must progress through a good chunk of Ranni the Witch’s quest to get it.
Firstly, exploring Caria Manor in Liurnia of the Lakes and defeating Royal Knight Loretta is a must. That’s because Ranni is inside Ranni’s Rise which is only accessible from Loretta’s boss area.
Next, Tarnished must travel all the way to Caelid and trigger the Radahn Festival. Defeating General Radahn will unlock Nokron, the Eternal City, making it possible to retrieve the Fingerslayer Blade. Give The Nokron Treasure to Ranni to receive the Carian Inverted Statue which can be used inside the Carian Study Hall to flip it upside down. Finally, head all the way to the top floor of the Divine Tower of Liurnia to obtain the Cursemark of Death.
The last step is to offer the Cursemark to Fia at the Deeproot Depths after defeating the Fia’s Champions boss, allowing the Deathbed Companion to lay with Godwyn and for players to enter her dream to fight the Lichdragon Fortissax secret boss in Elden Ring.
