How to Make Wood Planks in Enshrouded

What are Wood Planks For?

Wood Planks are an advanced crafting material in Enshrouded that players will need in order to make progress. Not everything can be made with raw wood alone, and if you want to make better buildings and fancier equipment, you’re going to need Wood Planks in bulk.

Unlike basic Enshrouded materials like Wood and Stone, getting Wood Planks is going to take a while. There’s a list of things to do before you can start making refined material, so here’s a guide covering all the necessary steps you need to take to help you get started.

How to Make Wood Planks in Enshrouded

Wood Planks are made at a Table Saw using Wood Logs. Each log yields two Wood Planks, and it takes about a minute for the process to finish. Getting Wood Logs is easy, but if you haven’t made much progress into your playthrough yet, then getting the Table Saw is going to be a problem.

To get a Table Saw, you need to find and free the Carpenter in Enshrouded. He is one of the NPCs that you can summon to your base. You can find the Carpenter’s vault just east of the Cinder Vault, the game’s starting point. Before you get there, you’ll want to get a Grappling Hook and Glider for traversal, and a strengthened Flame at the Flame Altar so you can survive in higher-level Shroud areas.

Once the Carpenter is free, you’ll then need to do a short quest for him to unlock the Table Saw recipe. In this quest, he’ll ask you to find a Circular Sawblade in a place called Thornhold. You can find it southeast of the Revelwood Ancient Spire, though it should also be marked on your map for easy navigation.

Thornhold and its surrounding areas are home to Scavengers that are about level 13. With that in mind, we strongly suggest getting better equipment for your class and leveling up in Enshrouded before heading there.

What are Wood Planks For?

Wood Planks are mainly used for making crafting stations, furniture, and building materials. Some important furniture and crafting stations that need Wood Planks are:

Hand Spindle (Hunter): Used to make better strings.
Masonry Tools (Carpenter): Expands the Carpenter’s crafting options.
Alchemy Station (Alchemist): Used to make alchemical goods and implements.

These three items alone will unlock a ton of new crafting recipes. Additionally, if you’re a builder who is looking for some new blocks to play with, Wood Planks are also needed for Refined Wood Blocks, which are a cut above the regular Rough Wood Blocks in terms of aesthetic.
