There’s a plethora of weapons in Fallout 76, and some of the best weapons in the game can be crafted once players learn how. Medical Malpractice is one such weapon — it’s a reliable revolver that can get rid of most enemies in a pinch, but its true value comes from the synergy between its three legendary perks that make medic builds viable in the late game.

Future updates for Fallout 76 should develop a new feature from the Season 16 Scoreboard into a long-lasting tradition.

Getting Medical Malpractice will involve a lot of work, but it’ll be worth it if you want to make the best builds in Fallout 76. If you’re not sure how to get this weapon, here’s a short guide covering its source as well as a general overview of what makes the gun good.

How to Get Medical Malpractice in Fallout 76

Previously, the only way to obtain this weapon was to complete a Weekly Challenge that involved scoring 150 Critical Hits on enemies while in Survival Mode. However, when the Fallout 76 Locked & Loaded update was released, Medical Malpractice was locked behind completing Daily Ops.

Instead of receiving the weapon after completing the challenge, players will now need to craft it after acquiring its plan as a random reward from a Level 50 Daily Op. This does mean that players will be subject to the will of RNG, so it might take some time before they can get the crafting blueprint for this weapon. Reaching Elder Tier guarantees that you get a Daily Op item along with a chance to get several other rewards. To reach this tier, you must finish an op in eight minutes or less.

An alternative to this is to visit Minerva, one of the Gold Buillion vendors in Fallout 76. Her store’s inventory changes regularly — if Medical Malpractice’s plans aren’t for sale, come back tomorrow.

Between cut and upcoming content, Fallout 76 features several Vault-Tec Vaults, some of which have a lasting impact on the franchise’s lore.

Medical Malpractice Stats (Level 45)

  • Damage: 81
  • Ammo: .44 Ultracite
  • Magazine: 6
  • Legendary Effects:
  • +50% VATS hit chance
  • -25% VATS cost
  • VATS crits will heal you and your group

Medical Malpractice is an excellent weapon for support-oriented players who invest in pistols and VATS-related perks. It is especially good at scoring critical hits while using VATS and healing the entire group whenever a crit is scored. However, like the majority of revolvers, it suffers from a low magazine size, and you’ll be reloading more often if you use this weapon. Despite that, Medical Malpractice can outperform even the best automatic weapons in Fallout 76 if players are kitted well enough.
