Final Fantasy 14 introduced many stories that captured the hearts of players all over the world. The characters that compose the MMO’s cast are largely responsible for that, and one who was introduced early on but continues to have an impact on players to this day is Haurchefant.

Having an important role in supporting the Warrior of Light and the remnants of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn when others wouldn’t, Haurchefant easily won over a large portion of the player base. And while players can get a title and a minion related to him simply by progressing the story, there is one other reward connected to the character that can be unlocked in game. Haurchefant has an emote dedicated to him, and here you can learn what you need to do to get it!

How To Unlock The Haurchefant Emote

final fantasy 14 litany of peace

The first thing players need to make sure of before trying to get the emote is that they have reached level 60 and completed the Main Scenario Quests up to “Litany Of Peace”. Once that is done, it will be necessary to start a questline called “Tales Of The Dragonsong War” – which will later show up as a chapter on the New Game+ menu. The quests that compose this chain will send the player to several different locations, and will often include lengthy cutscenes, but they are definitely worth it for those who love Final Fantasy 14‘s story.

None of those quests is marked by the blue content unlock quest symbol, so players might have overlooked them. When looking for the NPCs that initiate each quest, always look for the plain sidequest symbol.

The Paths We Walk

The first quest the player must pick up to begin the Tales Of The Dragonsong War questline is called “The Paths We Walk”. It can be initiated by talking to the House Fortemps Manservant inside Fortemps Manor. Retracing the steps of when they first arrived at Ishgard, the Warrior of Light will first go to the Jeweled Crozier (the aethernet can be used to get to the aetheryte with that location’s name) and speak to Elaisse (X: 7.7, Y: 10.8). After that, use the aethernet to travel to the Forgotten Knight and speak to Gibrillont (X: 13.0, Y: 11.8) at the bar.

The next step will be Camp Cloudtop, where the player will talk to Laniaitte (X: 16.9, Y: 37.3) a little to the southeast of the aetheryte. Visit Falcon’s Nest afterward and speak to Redwald (X: 32.6, Y: 38.3), then go back to Foundation and use the aethernet to go to The Tribunal. There, enter the building of the Supreme Sacred Tribunal of Halonic Inquisitory Doctrine and interact with the glowing marker at (X: 13.6, Y: 8.2). The Hoplon, also in The Pillars, is the next stop, where there is another glowing marker (X: 11.7, Y: 8.3) to interact with.

Leaving Ishgard for a bit, the player will pay a visit to Merlwyb in Limsa Lominsa (speak to Zanthael east of the aetheryte to talk to her, as usual). Travel to Revenant’s Toll to talk to Higiri (X: 22.0, Y: 5.1) on the second floor of Rowena’s House of Splendors to finish this quest.

The Oaths We Swear

The next quest, “The Oaths We Swear”, will start with Higiri right where the first one ended. She will ask the player to deliver an unguent in Ul’dah by speaking to Swift (X: 8.4, Y: 8.9) in the Hall of Flames. After that, the Warrior of Light will be sent to Gorgagne Mills, in Coerthas Western Highlands, with Falcon’s Nest being the closest fast travel point. They’ll have to talk to the House Durendaire Knight (X: 31.7, Y: 12.0), enter the building behind him, go down to the cellars and speak to the Penitent Heretic (X: 31.5, Y: 11.6). Following that, the player must go to the Twinpools, in the same area, and speak to Jantellot (X: 16.7, Y: 22.8). This quest ends in Tailfeather, where the adventurer must interact with Marcechamp (X: 31.9, Y: 22.9).

The Legacies We Leave

final fantasy 14 marcechamp

Like before, the quest will start right where the previous one ended, so the player only needs to talk to Marcechamp again to start “The Legacies We Leave”. He will direct the adventurer to Loth ast Vath, still in the Dravanian Forelands, where they must speak to the Vath Storyteller (X: 24.0, Y: 19.7). Continuing the path previously explored with Ysayle, the player will go to Anyx Trine and talk to Vidofnir (X: 16.8, Y: 23.6).

final fantasy 14 moglin

The moogles are next, so head to The Churning Mists and talk to Moglin (X: 30.1, Y: 36.5) in Moghome, before interacting with the glowing marker (X: 17.3, Y: 33.7) southeast of Zenith, also in The Churning Mists. Finally, the player will travel to Ul’dah, where they’ll use the aethernet to the Chamber of Rule and interact with the glowing marker (X: 11.1, Y: 11.7), talking to the Sultansworn Elite (X: 11.4, Y: 10.4) after.

The Triumphs We Share

The next quest, “The Triumphs We Share”, starts by talking to the same Sultansworn who ended the previous quest. He will direct the adventurer to Revenant’s Toll, where they’ll speak to Alianne (X: 22.1, Y: 8.4). The Skysteel Manufactory in Ishgard is the next stop, so travel to Foundation, then use the aethernet to get to the right location and interact with the glowing marker (X: 8.0, Y: 10.1). Another trip to The Churning Mists will follow, and the player should teleport to Moghome, then go northeast and interact with the glowing marker (X: 33.9, Y: 15.1) in the Monsterie.

Going back to Foundation, the adventurer will need to speak to Hilda (X: 11.4, Y: 12.0). After that, they’ll have to travel to Ok’Zundu and speak to Lonu Vanu (X: 10.6, Y: 14.7), before traveling to Old Gridania to talk to Y’mhitra (X: 10.9, Y: 6.2). Finally, interact with Slowfix (X: 7.5, Y: 6.5) in Idyllshire to finish the quest.

The Burdens We Bear

“The Burdens We Bear” is the last quest that must be completed to finish the Tales Of The Dragonsong War chain. After talking to Slowfix, the player must enter Matoya’s Cave (X:12.7, Y: 37.3), in the Dravanian Hinterlands, and speak to Master Matoya. Visit Helix in Azys Lla after that, and interact with the glowing marker (X: 5.2, Y: 9.3) on the airship landing, then interact with the Blue Bouquet (X: 4.2, Y: 8.9).

Interact with the glowing marker (X: 8.6, Y: 31.2) in the Delta Quadrant, still in Azys Lla, and talk to Tiamat and Midgardsormr, then go to the entrance to the Aetherochemical Research Facility dungeon to finish the tour through this area by interacting with the marker (X: 21.2, Y: 22.4) nearby.

At the beginning of the quest, the game will have warned the player that there are no markings on the map for this last objective. Instead, it’s necessary to decipher the text to find out where to go. The text says it all started at the behest of a friend, and there was only one place where it could end, which is enough indication it’s time to visit the friend who led the Warrior of Light to Ishgard.

Those who want to find out the exact location on their own should travel to Camp Dragonhead and speak to Corentiaux (X: 26.7, Y: 17.5), as he will offer a clue. Alternatively, players can simply head north from Camp Dragonhead and go directly to Coerthas Central Highlands (X: 22.4, Y: 7.9).

final fantasy 14 haurchefant grave location

Visiting Haurchefant’s grave will bring tears to the eyes of many players, but as we all learned after completing The Vault, a smile better suits a hero – and this is necessary to complete the quest. The rewards for it will be the achievement On the Road Again, Tales Of The Dragonsong War being unlocked in New Game+, and, of course, the Haurchefant emote.
