Five new side quests become available in Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth; four of which take place in the game’s Gongaga Region.

Every time Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players arrive in a new region, they’ll usually unlock a bunch of new World Intel objectives as well as a handful of new side quests. This is once again the case during the game’s ninth chapter, with players gaining access to four brand-new side quests in the Gongaga Region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Every Side Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

There are 36 side quests in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though not all of them will be available to players right away.

In addition to the four side quests in the Gongaga Region, players will also unlock one additional Corel Region side quest, which makes sense given that players will need to pass through the Corel Desert in order to reach Gongaga Village. There’ll be more Gongaga side quests later on too, though, for now, players should have more than enough side content to keep themselves busy.

The Pursuit of Perfection

  1. Speak with the weaponsmith to hear the details.
  2. Head to Izo’s shed and look for the map you need to obtain the materials the weaponsmith requires.
  3. Follow Izo’s draconite map to reach the area where you can procure the necessary draconite ore.
  4. Search the area for draconite deposits and collect the required quantity.
  5. Return to Izo and hand over the hunks of draconite ore he requested.
  6. Izo’s masterpiece is complete, and Barret is the owner of a brand-new weapon. A gift, the smith explains, for the man he believes will strive to do good deeds… and one day perhaps lay down his weapons once and for all.

Teach Me, Great Warrior

  1. Speak with the youth coalition rookie to hear the details.
  2. Gird your loins for a grueling training session and speak with Soetsu when you are ready to begin.
  3. As Yuffie’s second disciple, accompany Soetsu and help facilitate his training.
  4. As Yuffie’s second disciple, accompany Soetsu and help facilitate his training.

  7. Follow Soetsu back to the village and attempt to secure Master Yuffie’s due compensation.
  8. In the end, Soetsu and the GYC decline Yuffie’s offer of further training, as Cissnei offers to provide free instruction. While Gongaga’s defenders were willing to part with a surprising amount of gil, materia is the dealbreaker. Alas, Master Yuffie will have to look elsewhere for disciples.

O Chicken, Where Art Though

  1. Speak with Grandma Hen to hear the details.
  2. Use Kazhra’s feed clanger to lure the wayward chickens back to the coop.
  3. Trust in Red’s talents and follow Pippily’s scent trail.
  4. Use Kazhra’s feed clanger to lure the wayward Pippily back to the coop.
  5. Return to Kazhra and confirm that all her beloved chickens are present and accounted for.
  6. As thanks for rounding up her flock, Kazhra treats Cloud and Red XIII to a fresh serving of grilled chicken. With a heavy heart, they dine on what was once Pippily as they contemplate the circle of life. Afterwards, Red honors the chicken’s delicious sacrifice with a mournful howl.

The Spice of Life

  1. Speak with Cissnei to hear the details.
  2. Head to the village entrance and look for the peddler selling Torgan’s wares.
  3. Follow Torgan’s loyal companion back to his owner’s farm.
  4. Gather Gongaga rock salt and magonga mushrooms in accordance with Torgan’s instructions.
    • Melon can guide you to salt deposits.
    • Head to Magon Hill and use a chocobo to begin searching for magonga mushrooms.
  5. Return to Cissnei and hand over the ingredients you gathered.
  6. It was a mighty struggle, but with Cloud and Aerith’s help, Cissnei manages to make a proper mushroom soup. She intends to bring it to her next dinner with the Fairs, and unlike previous attempts, is confident that this batch won’t pose a health risk.

Like the ones listed above, the following side quest is unlocked during Chapter 9 of
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
. However, unlike the aforementioned side quests, Missing: Mr. Birdie takes place in the Corel Region rather than in Gongaga.


Missing: Mr. Birdie

  1. Speak with Mr. Birdie’s buddies to hear the details.
  2. To craft the bird traps required to capture Cloud Jr., you must first obtain a bird trap transmuter chip.
    • You can ascertain the location of the transmuter chip through lifespring analysis.

  4. Procure the necessary materials and transmute bird traps, then place the traps in the old republican birdhouses.

  5. Return to one of the bird traps you set and see if Cloud Jr. has been caught.
  6. Return to another of the bird traps you set and see if Cloud Jr. has been caught.
  7. Return to the remaining bird trap you set and see if Cloud Jr. has been caught.
  8. Return to the children and confirm that Cloud Jr. made it back safely.
  9. To the relief of the children who love and adore him, the incorrigible Cloud Jr. has returned safe and sound. The episode spurs Barret to reflect on how he hopes to bring Marlene home one day, though it might force him to explain the tragic circumstances of their departure years ago…
